All excellent pedagogical ideas! There is the limitation of course that it is not necessarily representative and that we do not screen for quality. Part of your Take 5, Pick 1 idea would presumably be considering such a quality, with then a discussion of why they think that makes something 'better'.

Yeah, some years I have filtered those out. Most voters don't bother filling in the optional questions. (maybe they are bots)

It has been going since 2012. I'm used to it. They often seemed confused by the concept of gender on the entirely*optional* demographic question and want to complain about that.

- No, there is a difference between gender identity and biological sex, but you don't have to answer that question if you don't want to. - Lots of nominators/voters had compliments, thank you for those. - Some voters had rude things to say, I mean, why bother? Hope that answers some questions!

We don't report on irregularities, just statistics, see previous years. As per FAQs, if people vote twice we take their last vote, if they vote more than that we delete all their votes. There are a handful of other things we check, but this is a fun awareness-raising activity with no real prizes.

Some categories are evenly tied between a small number of resources that motivating lots of people to vote. Other categories are fairly evenly matched and a small number of extra votes might swing it to your favoured resource! (N.B.: We've not yet checked for voting irregularities!)
