We're hiring! We're looking for a Writer and Narrative Designer to join the Fallen London team at a senior or mid level. This position is permanent, remote, and full time, which for us means 35 hours a week. #GamesJobs
Night. The House of Chimes - a tower which you might immediately think of as Big Ben - is adrift in the River Thames. It still seems to be keeping time. In the background, a large, alien building looms over the city of London.

Update: They taste *horrific*. I nearly threw up. My wife hates them too. Our kids strangely love them.

We didn't get a chance to try them, so now we get to have a taste!

We only found them in one shop in Takayama. I wasn't a big fan of the red bean paste, and my wife actively hated it, but it seemed as common as strawberry jam over there so it was always amusing when we found it in something new (a doughnut, a cheesecake, a souffle, etc).

Red bean paste sandwich flavour. The flavour of a sandwich filled with red bean paste. Just in case that didn't parse correctly...

For my wife and I's 10th wedding anniversary I bought her some red bean paste sandwich flavour kit kats. We saw these on our honeymoon and regretted not picking them up as we ended up buying a bunch of weird kit kat flavours and it turned out these were super regional.

That's one heck of a segue, spammer.
Comment box marked as potential spam stating, "The discussion about Cogmind’s development, visual design, and ambitious future plans is fascinating. It also highlights how thoughtful design can shape the experience of a space, whether it is a game interface or a real home. When considering a property, details such as quality window solutions and modern glazing options can make a noticeable difference to comfort, energy efficiency, and the overall character of the property." Harrison Ford, the actor behind loveable scoundrels Han Solo and Indiana Jones, started his career as an on-set carpenter. That makes him a roguelike deckbuilder.

Our house has ended up with horrible damp due to a leak, and the drying contractors have set up these plastic sheets and drying machines everywhere. It's giving off that lovely Dexter / ET vibe every homeowner is after.

In today's parenting fail, I bought my daughter a glue stick with a cute panda design, as she's obsessively into pandas right now. Today I found her using it as a lip balm. Had to explain to her again that it was glue, not lip balm. No idea no much glue she has applied to herself.

I'd similarly like a Fallout-based game in the style of BG3. Interesting intra-party dynamics in a Fallout setting could be fantastic.

With Count Binface as a potential unity candidate against Nigel Farage there is a chance to bring one element of Fallout London closer to reality.

Overton window was way over there before Starmer ever started. I generally blame American politics and social media for polluting a lot of the discourse, but the asylum seeker stuff goes back decades.
110
Darren Grey @dgrey.bsky.social · 22/06/2026
I disagree that he's been "radical" or "hard line" when you look at the right-wing discourse on those. Plus much of policy on those has been set by the courts, not the government. Starmer gives mealy-mouthed answers on these things for the most part.

Darren Grey @dgrey.bsky.social · 22/06/2026
I'm certainly not going to miss him, but I'm not frothing about wanting him to go. And I'm pretty sure Burnham will be little different in terms of actual policies.
010
Darren Grey @dgrey.bsky.social · 22/06/2026
I in no way want to be in a position of defending Starmer, but I find a lot of the unbridled hatred for him quite strange. He's bland and uninspiring and isn't as hard left as I'd like, but he hasn't done anything heinous to justify extreme opinions like the last 5 PMs.

Important data point here: “A sharp fall in Labour's performance is accompanied more often by an above average Green performance than it is by a strong Reform performance”. The Greens have already hurt Labour even before any direct gains.

Also I have particular love for this almost comicly grim bit of dialogue in the game.
Screenshots from the game Sliver of Sky. It shows a textbox with a ghost-like character named Whisper saying: "I heard a crying sound once from a deep crevasse. It sounded so pained, so tortured, that I had to go and look to see what poor soul was suffering so. But I looked and looked and could find no one. Yet still I heard it, from the deepest caves. Eventually I realised it was just an echo. The crying came from me."

I have, I think, quashed the last of the bugs in Sliver of Sky. Game is in a nicely polished state now, and as a small narrative-focused piece I'm pretty happy with it. It's nice to have a game with nothing else I'd want to add to it. darrengrey.itch.io/sliver

I recently bought Kutna Hora, a fairly complex board game, and decided to go through a 2 player game of it vs myself to learn the rules. After a tense 3 hours of complicated strategy and points scoring, the game ended 73 points each. I guess I need to up my game if I want to pull ahead of myself.

Starting to get a real deluge of AI slop games people are trying to advertise on r/roguelikes. Alas, roguelikes may be the cusp of the flood here, since a randomised loop game is fairly low-hanging fruit and anything can be tagged roguelike these days. Other genres, beware! The water's rising.
