School accountability ranked among the most cost-effective ways to raise student achievement in a new expert survey. Many states have backed away from it since No Child Left Behind. The evidence says they should take another look. bit.ly/4AOusmr

Science of reading. Strong curriculum. High-dosage tutoring. Accountability. None of it is partisan: D.C. led the nation in post-pandemic growth using the same playbook. Blue states can do this too. bit.ly/4y02fX5

Democratic governors spent months waiting on Treasury. Its Federal Scholarship Tax Credit rules are out, and public school students are in. Governors who wait will watch their residents' tax dollars fund scholarships in other states. bit.ly/4y1MOhd
Quote graphic on a dark navy background with "Democrats for Education Reform" running vertically along the left edge. The quote reads: "Democrats have a chance to listen to their voters and deliver hundreds of millions of dollars for critical educational supports like tutoring, special-needs services and after-school programs. That's new money, on top of what schools already allocate. But it can't reach students if the groups that deliver it don't have an infrastructure in place." Back-to-school costs jumped 7.7% nationally this year. Boston families could spend about $648 per child. Massachusetts could unlock an estimated $2.2B for tutoring, transportation and after-school support. Draft rules land in September. Money starts in January. Timing matters. bit.ly/4zGsmEA

Two states. Two paths to education innovation. GA gives districts room to redesign public learning from within. In VA, families and educators are building microschools outside traditional systems. Both point to the same demand: more flexible, responsive options for students. bit.ly/4zGsmEA

Two very different education debates point to the same question: did students learn? Pay providers when students demonstrate gains. Judge ed tech by whether it improves learning, not minutes on a screen. Different issues. Same principle: judge outcomes, not inputs. bit.ly/4zGsmEA
