Same for Three Finger Brown, who having his hand mutilated in a farming accident gave him a devastating curve ball. Maybe instead of travel baseball, the MLB should invest in dangerous child labour as a development venue for pitchers?

It's not just that. For many Canadians, they know detention by ICE or Customs for an unknown amount of time without access to medications is cripplingly or lethal. You're asking us to risk our lives to mitigate the damage your fellow citizens did to you.

Leafs fans: This team is pure misery and ruining my life but I believe one day it will be worth it. Habs fans: We are the greatest franchise in sports history, even though it mostly happened before I was born. Yankees fans: We are the greatest franchise in sports history, and it is pure misery.

100% pure theatre. Schneider was never going to take him out, but it was fun for the crowd and for Max to be able to say 'I'm staying in!'. The second time, as Max was laughing, that was obviously the real hook.

I don't even accept a bottle of water or anything because, no word of a lie, some people can and will judge you by the way you drink or the frequency. Finish your drink before going into reception or wait until you're done if you want to minimize dumb shit that you could be judged on.

dexfarkin.bsky.social @dexfarkin.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
The reason being that for interviews, you want to minimize input to what you control. As this site has shown, people have vastly different reactions to minor crap like this, so don't take a possible self own in with you in case the interview is an A-type with strong opinions on outside food.

This iced coffee thing might kill me. Pro tip from someone who works for a recruitment firm. For a professional interview, don't bring anything to put out before an interview but a copy of your CV and a notebook for notes. Most places will offer you a drink at reception or before the interview

I'm extremely lucky; walkable neighbourhood main street with said butcher, fishmonger, two delis, four bakeries, three independent fruit and veg shops, several specialty markets and a discount supermarket for the random canned necessities. All in the Polish/Ukrainian part of town.

I have a proper butcher and fishmongers directly across the street from each other. The butcher shop has been there since 1902.

So my contribution into apple bluesky. I had a friend who was an apple bounty hunter. He found old orchards and sold the cultivars for hundreds of thousands to companies and farmers.

The funniest part of all of this is how much of modern English Shakespeare flat out invented in his works. I mean, he's credited as the origin of over 1700 words and they're going to adapt him to a language used over 500 years before his birth?

It allows access to key resources that Russia is going to try and starve them of, and provides additional direct military assets to bolster their own efforts. The telling part isn't just that this is good for Canada. It is that it as a hedge against the US and the EU is willing to make a fast deal.

dexfarkin.bsky.social @dexfarkin.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
This move suggests strongly that the EU sees conflict with Russia as inevitable and feels, at best, the US will be neutral in any conflict, or directly favour Russia. The best way to hedge against this would be with greater integration with Canada. It adds one of the world's larger economies.

It will allow them to expand force multiplers far more quickly than manufacturing traditional costly elements like planes and ships. More so, it provides key defensive depth, as manufacturing could be split between facilities in the EU and Canada. The lessons of the convoys haven't been forgotten.

The third is a little more challenging, since both sides are currently staffing up their militaries but still with significant distance to go. However, and this is really important, the Ukraine and now Iran have changed battlefield philosophy for good with the inclusion of drone capacity.

They don't want to buy from China, they can't buy from Russia, and it seems that they openly view the US as a Russian ally which cannot be trusted. Canada provides the first two elements in abundance, especially liquefied natural gas which is a key element for their energy infastructure.

It is illustrative of the strategic shift by the EU and the urgency they see it requiring. That's the unexpected part. Right now, the EU suffers three key weaknesses; energy, strategic national resources like rare earths and steel, and military capacity.
