Speaking of awesome music, I'm winding my way through some of my favorite 80's Canadian synth-pop bands (a favorite sub-genre given that I had free access to Canadian radio which was WAY better than the local stuff) and stumbled upon Rational Youth, who I haven't listened to since the last century.

I stumbled upon the gritty world of flashlight enthusiasts last year when asking friends about a good usb rechargeable one for camping. Most of them are medievalists, which is kind of funny. Nobody takes a rushlight to the port-a-john at two in the morning.

Huh. This shows some good promise. Definitely a type of setting that appeals to me. Not quite dying earth or post apocalyptic, but in that same family. I'm on the hunt for settings, systems, and ideas for a campaign I'm spinning up now that I'll have more free time. I'll have to check this out.

A fine security feature of Linux is that programs generally can't update themselves without permission. Windows and MacOS wrongly grant blanket access for any installed program to update its code without notifying you or requesting permission.

Harem comedy is a favorite genre I never see enough of. What isn't funny about someone who has too many romantic prospects but can't date any of them because they're crazy and dangerous. Date any one of them and the rest turn on you. Temptation and terror.

I find the whole introduction of safety to programming languages fascinating. I didn't get into programming to be safe. I got into programming to do some crazy shit and see what I could get away with. Which is why I like C so much.

Now that I'm starting to get why people love org-mode's agenda views, I'm having to argue with myself if it is better to have fewer files and make my headlines more detailed, or if I should have more files so the filename provides me with info about each item in it.

I like DRM free books because I can read them on anything. I like indie authors because they rock. I like buying ebooks on platforms that aren't evil mega corporations. I can do all this, but what I can't easily do is all of the above in bulk without a whole lot of clicking and a spreadsheet.

I opened Google Chrome for the first time in months on my work computer because I have a vendor meeting using Meet. It immediately told me to set it as my default browser. The two choices were "Set as default browser" and "Set later". And that's why I don't use Chrome. No means no.

I'm kind of surprised pedals never took off as an input device. They were in the design for the Memex, and that was the coolest idea until org mode made the Memex a reality. People seem to think moving your hands between mouse and keyboard is a good idea when we could totally use our feet instead

This reminds me of how all of the Cyberpunk genre RPGs had this weird thing about alcohol having to be somehow synthetically made, so you couldn't just buy a beer, you had to get a synth-beer. Meanwhile, if it is a starch or sugar humans can eat, we can make booze out of it.
