IMO conferences are often an opportunity for working people to live it up like the wealthy do, so sensibility gets thrown to the wind. I once was flown to a conference, asked my boss what learning/outcome was expected of me, and she said just have fun this is a reward for good work.

UPDATE: The mystery LLC connected to Victor Marx's campaign for Colorado Gov is back in newly-filed campaign finance documents. The Marx campaign paid nearly $3k to Not Shook, LLC for "Advertising." Marx's campaign once listed Marx as the LLC owner but he says that was a mistake.

Heat pumps work well in cold climates but installers are limited. Hate to say it…but I grew up with the thermostat set to 62 all winter, was the only simple way my parents could cut heating costs.
