I am so on board, yeah. It's a tough book in a lot of ways but with a ton of great setpieces, and going weird with it seems full of amazing possibilities.

Oh god yeah. I dated a woman briefly who left her hair completely unmaintained for an unspecified length of time during a coke binge and that was why she had white-girl dreads. They were... not nice.

I have made it through three days of peak prednisone. I am feeling enough better that I do not want someone to bring a bar fight to my bedside. I can go out and look for one myself. I dislike predisone.

I don't think so - both necessary, both tricky as fuck (if in fact possible at all) to teach, but I've had people with one and not the other. I think it's more the 3% sociopath thing I think Teresa occasionally talks about.

Alas, I cannot. I've tried! It's a necessary skill for community management and I've tried to hire people who didn't have it - however good their other skills are, the job eats them alive.

Yeah, the corresponding skill I've had to develop is the absolute inability to notice if someone's mad at me unless they say something. I can turn it on and off at will! It's very handy.

Man I grew up with it and am pretty good with the five-weeks-later elliptical reference that obliquely acknowledges that it went badly, but jesus it's so much _work_.
