I see lots of posts re: the BC election being political opportunism and I feel a little crazy just sitting here going, "yeah. that's how politics works?" Fundamentally the job is to secure power to implement your agenda on behalf of your constituents.

I have real mixed feelings about Cal Newport lately. On the one hand, I think he's does some good work especially explaining some of the AI hype issues. On the other hand, he occasionally goes "oh hey, I just realized this thing and no one is talking about it!" which is...rarely...the case.
