For all the madness, I appreciate that there is a consistent world logic to Sparks of Tomorrow, character-wise & narratively. The episode establishes how awful the steam-powered mics are (that gap in volume between cuts...), and later, you do see how they overjuice the superior electrical ones

Sparks of Tomorrow #04 is an exciting (TV) storyboarding & direction debut for Ayumu Yoshida. No doubt Ota gave her pointers as the project leader, but I love her way of envisioning a radical breakthrough in communication, while still making sure to keep everything grounded in human emotion
