Absolutely loving the Shetland weather, and it smells incredible here - floral and salty

Holy Trinity church in Rothwell Northamptonshire - one of only two ossuaries left in the country as far as I can see. Strange and moving place to visit

I don't know what's going on out there but I'm staying in here... Terrifying

It's niche interest, but books like this are so important, and so are the small local publishers making them happen. The Shetland Times is up for sale, I hope it finds a buyer and continues it's sterling work.

The book that I bought in Edinburgh? @edentravels.bsky.social Green Mountains. Made Waterstones get it out of their delivery, made myself hungry reading it on the train back. It looks wonderful so far
The cook book and travelogue Green Mountains held aloft with pride!

God, I'm going to miss my Christmas tree and all it's stupid decorations. Staying up until 12th night

Having a lot more fun reading this than I expected, it's funny and smart and not too serious

I was given Lego for Christmas - less stressful than a jigsaw though essentially the same thing right?

In the season of late starts and finishes at work so I'm taking a few minutes to enjoy my tree before I head in

Candlelit coffee and watching the sunrise. A good start to a new week and day off after the madness of the last weekend in retail

Coffee is gone, weather appropriate reading put down, time to leave for work. The lack of snow days is a real downside to both adult life and city centre living

Using the extra hour today to make quince jelly, it's certainly taking its time to reach setting point - smells lovely though

Missing Shetland. Making up for it by sitting over a late lunch in my favourite Borders bookshop (main street trading company) in the way back to Leicester. It's undoubtedly time to move north for good

Sad to be leaving Shetland tomorrow - it's been idyllic (apart from the lightning storm with horizontal rain)

I love the changeability of Shetland weather. Today has been glorious, tomorrow is meant to be both very windy and very wet which is playing hell with my plan to go and see gannets - but I don't care, because today was today

Hayley Anderton @desperatereader.bsky.social · 06/08/2024
Shetland always feels a long way from Leicester (and it is however you cut it) but today looking at this view after reading the news... The heather is in full bloom around me so the air smells like honey and is alive with bees. How do we fix this?

It feels like an age since I've had time and energy and someone to cook for altogether. Had all 3 today, made Marian Armitages bacalao from Food Made In Shetland and it was glorious. Perfect winter salt fish stew

Everything is a bit up and down at the moment but I've spent a soothing morning at home knitting and making Gentse mastel from @regulaysewijn.bsky.social Dark Rye and Honey Cake. There are much worse ways to deal with things.

Pounced on it when I unpacked it at work yesterday. Coincidentally matches my current knitting project and I'm torn between which to give my attention to right this moment.
