I wish more Academia and "Dark Academia" romance actually involved Academia work lol. I can only think of AS Byatt's "Possession" and RF Kuang's "Katabasis" off the top of my head (very different stories wc I imagine will be tedious to some ppl in similar ways lol)

truly wish there was a website like livejournal that everyone was on again. I think tumblr is the best app for posting these days so I'm usually there (esp my DC blog) but I long for the long form posts of lj. The ship manifestos, the love letter-like character essays, that era of fanfic in general

Found this on the AO3 subreddit, and I'm about to let it change my whole life (or at least work really hard to internalize it wrt my writing).

Someone's screenshot of a two-post twitter thread, from user blue (@bluewmist):

the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

When you fuck around (accidentally cross a line you didn’t realise was a line with your playful banter) and find out (something about yourself) #zosan #sanzo

Shipping fanart of Zoro and Sanji from One Piece in their post-timeskip designs. Sanji is looming over Zoro with a hand planted implicitly against a wall or something behind him, boxing Zoro in so that he can glare down at him, their faces close. He looks quietly but strongly annoyed while Zoro seems more taken-aback, sitting with his arms crossed. Sanji has a cigarette in his mouth and is blowing the smoke across Zoro's face. The colours in the image are strongly stylised with the background a swirl of purple and yellow radiating from Zoro's skull and the plumes of smoke a contrasting blue.

“banning pornography” is bad on its own but it is imperative that everyone understand that these people consider the very existence of queer people to be pornographic they consider the most chaste depiction of a queer relationship, or an openly trans person, to be porn and they want it banned

I feel like I could draw mettaton forever

#mettatonex from #undertale leans over to hug his cousin napstablook, cooling robotic arms around their ghostly form in an embrace. Mettaton is smiling happily looking down at them. A vague black and blue background implies the dark and glowing environment of Waterfall.

i hate the state of dc fic too, and desperately want fic from the hyperspecific and short period of pre-n52 Batman Inc. era, but i also hate that many of the people who keep complaining about it don't write fic themselves. like at least the wfa fans are writing lol, what about you?
