Radon is Canada's leading cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers. Almost every Edmonton house has some of it. My house has been trying to kill me for years. But I won, and my radon is mitigated. Test for radon, folks. You can borrow radon testers from EPL. pls dont die

No new obstacles on my route. Light breeze out of the west, but it felt like it was about to change direction. More car and pedestrian traffic than usual. A bit of cloud filtered the moon. #yegbike

Lovely crescent moon this morning. Stiff breeze out of the northeast. The street lights are out (again) on 142 St between 94th and 91st Ave, and (still) on 102 Ave between 116 and 114 St. Watch out for path repair/construction at the 103 Ave exit from Railtown toward 109 St. #yegbike

Chilly this morning. Brisk breeze out of the southeast. I had my wind breaker, lobster mitt covers, fleece earband and wind pants on… and forgot to add a layer on my feet. lol. No obstacles in my route, just cold toes. #yegbike

Perfect windbreaker weather. Bit of a breeze out of the west, with some gusts from the south, maybe a rain squall too. Watch out for shattered glass exiting Railtown at 103 Ave toward 109 St. There’s a tipped e-bike in the lane at 103 Ave and 103 St. A coyote gambols on Connaught. #yegbike

Cool again this morning, with a bit of a breeze out of the northeast. No obstacles on my route. (I didn’t take Ravine Dr. today.) Looks like someone hit the tree outside Hathaway’s on 124 St, as it had a serious lean going on when I rode by. #yegbike

Cooler this morning. No new obstacles to speak of, and sadly no wildlife. Ravine Dr is still closed at 101 Ave. There’s a broken street sign in the 102 Ave bike lane at 126 St. Gentle reminder that cars and other cyclists can’t see you before sunrise if you don’t have lights. #yegbike

Hey #yegbike just a reminder about the detour on the NW of the High Level Bridge. Several cyclists seemed very confused about where to go on my commute because there is zero wayfinding signage about where the detour is. So I figured I'd share this detour map that Paths for People shared earlier.
Satellite map view of Constable Ezio Faraone Park and the High Level Bridge. There is a legend in the upper left-hand corner with a red line indicating shared path closed and a green line indicating shared path open. The typical shared use path and pedestrian sidewalk straight from the 97 Ave crosswalk to the northwest entrance of the shared use path on the High Level is closed. The detour is west along 97 Ave to connect onto the shared use path just slightly west of 110 St and then make a slight right to continue west on the shared use path avoiding the cobbled promenade and then left to continue on the shared use path towards the northwest entrance of the High Level Bridge. This path is indicated on the map with a green line.

I think the lower legs of Ravine Dr are still open. From what I could see in the dark, the closure was limited to Ravine and 101 Ave near the Memorial Park.

A little too warm for the windbreaker and gloves. Street lights are out on 142 St from 91 Ave to 93 Ave. Road is closed at Ravine Dr & 101 Ave. Street lights are out on 102 Ave from 116 St to 114 St. A porcupine is snacking near Alexander Circle. A coyote gambols on Connaught Dr. #yegbike

I keep meeting smart informed Albertans who tell me they do not intend to vote, because they don’t want to legitimize the process, or because they know the premier is not bound by the results. But what if making us give up on voting is the whole point? My argument to vote - no matter the absurdity.

When I had toddlers, I’d bike with them in the cargo trailer. Cold weather outerwear for them was about staying warm sitting still: Toques with ear flaps, mitts and mitt liners, waterproof winter boots, insulated wet-resistant snowsuit or onesie, and sometimes a blanket. MEC had great options.

Chilly this morning. You’ll definitely want your windbreaker, earband and gloves. No obstacles on my route, except for a car driving west in the bike lane at 103 Ave and 112 St. Street lights are still out over there. #yegbike

Warmer and quieter this morning. The clouds were lit and the stars a gift. 103 Ave is closed from 109 St to 107 St. I *think* the bike lane is mostly open, but the signage is a bit random so keep your wits about you. #yegbike

Not quite jacket weather yet. Cool and calm. Way more traffic than usual. I guess we’re all excited to be back at work. No new obstacles to speak of, though the construction damage on 103 Ave between 109 and 106 St definitely *felt* worse. #yegbike

Thank you! I’m okay. I just misjudged my wet brakes and ended up much, much closer to a left-turning truck than I wanted to be — and scared the driver half to death I’m sure. No doubt we’ll both be more attentive in the days ahead.
