@descalzi.bsky.social lab is also hiring a PDF and PhD student, so come chat if you're interested in pain, astrocytes and behaviour. I'm biased, but it's a great training environment!!

“Cognitive psychology has shown that students grow intellectually through doing the work of drafting, revising, failing, trying again, grappling with confusion and revising weak arguments. This is the work of learning how to learn.” #AI #HigherEd #EduSky 1/2 theconversation.com/the-greatest...

The greatest risk of AI in higher education isn’t cheating – it’s the erosion of learning itself
Automating knowledge production and teaching weakens the ecosystem of students and scholars that sustains universities, raising existential questions about their mission.

So much inappropriate use of AI; it will be the death of novel thought. I feel students using AI to research have somehow been mislead into thinking that summarizing papers is the same as reading and comprehension.

Come work with us. Huge strengths in MRI, neuroscience and musculoskeletal health and their intersections such as pain, child development or ageing. Preclinical and clinical research and translation are also big opportunities. Shoot me a note if you have questions.
