This tunnel window at King George Sq bus station is a rare reminder of the now buried Wheat Creek which ran through what became Brisbane was an important water source for Indigenous people and Moreton Bay penal colony. It was gradually built over and forgotten
On a station platform is a circular tunnel with a brick lined entrance with glass behind it. Sadly there is no interpretative signage explaining its purpose

A three part visit to a heritage park in Eagle Farm. The women convict barracks 1828-38, a ww2 Allison engine testing centre and a top secret ww2 project at Hangar 7 which reverse engineered captured Japanese Zero fighter planes.

I had to go to Roma for a funeral and it was a quick 24 hour dash bookended by two long overnight train journeys. A sad occasion but I had plenty of time to walk around and soak in the town that I know from my newspaper time there in the 2010s

Cycling home and I could see something on my helmet in the corner of my eye. It continued to vaguely annoy me until I got home. When I got off I found this butterfly still attached. Think it might be Papilio demoleus. After taking the photo I flicked it off and it flew away unharmed.
