If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.

This is a shameful move by the Home Secretary. Voters are deserting Labour because we are a better country than they think we are.

Kind of incredible. I was just sitting down to write about how Starmer should be given credit for keeping us out of this mess when he does this. Unutterably foolish and obsequious. Why in God's name should we have anything to do with this shortsighted madness.

Legalising and regulating drugs is about reducing the harm and deaths caused by drug use, and treating addicts rather than criminalsing them. It is appalling that Labour and Reform are playing politics with people's lives.

Now there is hope! It's no longer a choice between grim and grimmer. We can vote for who we want and win. Anywhere. It's just one constituency, but the Green victory in Gorton and Denton is an electric shock to our political system.

The Greens comfortably won a key UK by-election, suggesting that they are able to outcompete Keir Starmer as the primary leftwing opposition to Reform in Labour heartlands. Follow our blog for live updates and analysis: ft.trib.al/diEVgAe

You can have a drugs policy based on evidence, best practice from around the world, speaking to clinicians, experts, drug users, their relatives and the police, like the Green Party. Or you can have drugs policy based on the Daily Mail comments section, like Labour.

Remember Palantir has very big NHS and Defence contracts in the UK Their one aim in life is to tie a Government into long term contracts by making the software difficult to undo and engage another company. Great business model you might say, but disastrous Govt policy. They have us over a barrel

As mass murder and genocide escalate in #Gaza, the UK government should denounce them, cut off all support to Netanyahu's government and assist in its prosecution. Instead, Starmer silences his ministers. In doing so, he facilitates the crimes.
