Agreed. But, to be fair, based on interviews it seems he kept receiving music, writing lyrics and melodies, and then Adam and Danny would scrap everything and go off on another tangent, for years and years on end. Sounds like he was pretty apathetic and burned out by the end.

I've seen precisely one of these and it was the keyboardist from Dream Theatre (also an accomplished guitarist) pretending he'd never heard AC/DC's Thunderstruck. And "absolutely get fucked" sums it up nicely, yes.

Back to doing some recording. I'm doing it myself so I'm the producer and the artist. As the artist I am getting tired of the ridiculous things the producer is making me do. As the producer I am wondering why I ever agreed to work with someone so touchy and unprofessional.

These things always seem simple from the outside, but inside it's a mess with tons of legacy issues from 100 years of recorded music and legal precedents across dozens of legal jurisdictions. Producers still get their backend points and everyone gets paid. New platforms just take time to catch up.

Yeah, adding full credits to streaming was glacial, but artists weren't to blame. Metadata is inconsistent, and writing / production credits are often contentious. Some pop tracks can have a dozen+ writing credits. Standardization was slow because it's complicated and rights holders are litigious.

Evil Dead Burn is pretty phenomenal. Walks that fine line between pure sadism and dark humor. Some of the best, most creative shots in the franchise. Minor CGI-related gripe robs it of an 11/10, relegating it to a mere 10/10. Possibly the only long-running horror franchise without a bad entry?

I mean, it's a really stupid system, but producers aren't being denied credit somehow, they're a key decider in how mainstream music is structured. Pop stars are generally just cogs in a machine.

The pop star is the product / brand. Their name is on the poster and albums because that's what sells. The target market is tweens who believe the pop star is "expressing themselves authentically". Producers and labels foster that illusion because it makes money. They have the power in this equation

Ah, I've never seen pop stars taking credit for writing songs when they weren't the songwriter, hence the misunderstanding. Always saw them as figureheads rather than creators, much like actors and other performers. If they're wrongly claiming they're writing songs that's gross.

True. Similarly, plenty of actors never take an interest in writing scripts, and I know several people who play in orchestras who don't write music in any form. Baffling to me, but I guess they're happy to compartmentalize / focus on performing.

A little bass duet from the Chainstaff OST. The Molting Grounds are so visually arresting, writing something to do them justice felt like a fool's errand. This introduction sought to compliment the gorgeous imagery, while staying out of the way enough to let the art speak for itself.
