There are many ways of killing. You could stick a knife into someone’s stomach, take someone’s bread away, not cure someone’s illness, put someone in poor accommodation, work someone to death, drive someone to suicide, take someone to war and so on. In our country, some of this is forbidden. Brecht

Liberal labour reforms may be presented as a way to manage difficult disputes. But if Ottawa intervenes whenever a strike has major economic consequences, workers’ bargaining power will be weakened precisely when it matters most. theconversation.com/canadas-prop... #canlab #cdnpoli

Canada’s proposed labour reforms could shift power away from workers in major disputes
Bill C-39 makes it easier for Ottawa to intervene when collective bargaining produces the very conflict that it is designed to manage.

The Liberals’ new bill allows the Minister to violate workers’ right to strike based solely on her opinion after taking into account any consideration she wants. That’s not guardrails at all - it’s pure discretion.

Opinion: Is a nation falling from 5th to 22nd in life expectancy rankings a sign of something wrong?
Growing income and wealth inequality, housing and food insecurity, lack of unionized jobs, and a health-care system in crisis contribute.
