Watching good people get pushed out of TTRPG spaces because someone had to make it everyone's business to dislike them. There are way too many people who are still doing highschool BS apparently communication is a skill issue. I am tired but my barbarian rage is on for my friends.

That's 2 good friends of mine now that have recently had doors closed on them in TTRPG spaces because some people apparently can’t simply dislike someone and move on.

They'll instead opt for character assassination. Whisper campaigns. Talking behind people’s backs. Trying to damage someone’s relationships and connections within a creative community.

That is JUVENILE BEHAVIOR.

If you don’t like someone, you don't vibe with their personality or don't like their game style, you are allowed to walk away. You are allowed to set boundaries. You are allowed to not play with them.

What you don’t get to do is turn your personal dislike into a campaign to isolate someone from an entire community.

And honestly? Fuck right off with that.

My friends will get all my love and solidarity. I’ve seen the way they show up at tables, what they bring to TTRPG spaces. I know the character they’ve demonstrated through their actions, generosity, creativity, and the way they treat other people.

AND THAT MATTERS.

As a bi woman, I’ll say this too: this kind of behavior makes it harder for people to take genuine reports and genuine victims seriously.

People these days need to learn to fuckin' communicate and act like goddamn adults. Set boundaries. Bring concerns to the appropriate people, not to someone who isn't in the fuckin' room. Don't be the one to avoid direct and difficult conversations when they need to happen.

Whispering, twisting stories, recruiting people against someone, and trying to destroy their connections because you personally dislike them?

That isn't accountability.

That's COWARDICE.

We're not in highschool anymore FFS.

There are too many emotionally immature people these days, and the observable data cannot lie no matter how much they spin it or do their mental gymnastics. Thank you for telling we all I need to know, and I move accordingly 😌

If you want to know how emotionally mature someone really is, pay attention to their reaction after they've hurt you. Do they listen when you explain what they did? Do they take accountability without making excuses? Do they genuinely care that their actions caused you pain? Or do they become defensive, dismiss your feelings, shifty the blame, or somehow make you feel guilty for being hurt?

Because hurting someone is one thing. How you respond when you realize you've hurt them reveals much more about who you are.

Emotional maturity isn't about ever making mistakes. it's about having enough self-awareness to acknowledge when you've caused pain, enough empathy to understand it, and enough humility to make things right. Their reaction to hurting you will often tell you everything you need to know about them.
