The Democrats need to actually prove they want to change things. They had all three branches during the Obama era and didn’t amend the constitution to include reproductive rights and LGBT rights, they bailed out the bankers and the auto execs and they watered down Obamacare. Do they do anything?

I’m no policy expert but telling people “we will hold accountable the executive branch” instead of just letting them go to war with Iran and send ICE into our cities is probably more popular than “trans people are a liability to us winning seats.”

No literally, it’s symbolic. The winner of the popular vote in California has been a Democrat for decades. Harris won the popular vote here and she one all of our electoral votes because by law, they had to go to her. She was always going to win CA’s popular vote, there was basically no risk.

The vote shamers are always funny to me. “Didn’t you think about queer people and POCs?” Yes, because I am one. I’m literally almost all the minorities one can be. But I still didn’t vote Harris because I live in CA and our electoral votes all go to the winner of the popular vote in the state.

We do not elect our president directly, it is through the electoral college. OP mentioned Morello is from California because here, all electoral votes go to who wins the popular vote in the state. The choice will almost always be a Democrat, so a protest vote is just symbolic.
