I wonder how many people can tell that Drake's NOKIA is actually a disco song

Demi @demarjgrant.bsky.social · 25/01/2025

Nikola Jokic being a shooting sleeve player is so odd. typically you associate the shooting sleeve with athletically dynamic players or prolific snipers. He's a amazing, but misfitting for his aesthetic

Demi @demarjgrant.bsky.social · 25/01/2025

Why does nobody care that Anthony Edwards is a 40%+ shooter from deep? Isn't that an insane development for a player we're projecting to be a superstar because of his Jordan-like playstyle?

bluesky fact: it doesn’t actually matter what you call posts on here until you complain about it, then they’re skeets

Bluesky is winning because both twitter and threads have gone out of their way to make their platforms inhospitable to reputable journalists and news. @kattenbarge.bsky.social reports: www.nbcnews.com/tech/social-...

Journalists flock to Bluesky as X becomes increasingly 'toxic'

Journalists are finding more readers and less hate on Bluesky than on the platform they used to know as Twitter.

Anyways here’s one of my favourite Mac Miller tracks. Keep Floatin’ is immaculate vibes. Those twinkling tones, cartoony strings and subtle bass combine for a delicate backdrop and Malcom’s laidback delivery is super relaxing. Wiz’s hook is also so chilled and it blends well with the production

Balloonerism just got announced too. Hate to break it to you y’all but I heard that one years ago. Frankly I never thought it’d come out since Mac died 6 years ago and Balloonerism was allegedly supposed to come out when he died. At least that was the rumour

Juice Wrld is dropping a posthumous album soon so I want to share one of the best freestyles from one of the greatest freestylers. Juice’s style was the perfect blend of Chief Keef and Drake. Sad boy, flexy or gritty bars with Chicago drill flows and saccharine melodies to tie everything together.

Sacrilegious but... J.Cole’s Dead Presidents II is better than Jay-Z’s. The double entendres, the imagery and rhyme schemes are gnarly. The lyrical dexterity of these lines are just insane: “Overcame a low life status to blow like Gladys Ahead of my time like I live my whole life backwards”

J.Cole just dropped The Warm Up (his best ever project) on Spotify. Kendrick surprise dropped an album. All we need now is a Drake loosie to complete the set

It’s impressive how Kendrick has become more idiosyncratic as his career has progressed despite being more popular than ever On Peakaboo there’s G-funk, rapping past the beat, repeating lyrics, mocking the listener and onomatopoeia with “Bing-bop-boom-boom-boom-bop-bam” And we’re still captive

For early The Weeknd fans his transition to pop has been a bittersweet symphony. But over the years he’s left some crumbs for the Trilogy lovers. Until I Bleed Out is one of those songs. Grind the pace down, buzz the 808s, let Abel splay vocally and haunt you with his imagery. I could cry to this

Drive Slow is one my fav Paul Wall songs because of these lyrics: “It's a star-studded event when I valet park Open up my mouth and sunlight illuminates the dark” The sax flourishes in a way that accents those lines as if that’s the sound that plays when Paul Wall smiles. Listen and you’ll get it

Sometimes it’s best to just to let the wave wash over you. Ken Carson’s “yaaaaa” melody is just so intoxicating, by the end of the song you’ll be saying it just to feel the same catharsis. It helps that the production is all encompassing too

I promise I talk about things other than production but Summer Drop is one of my favourite beats this year. I love the kicks, they're just smidge distorted to hit harder but doesn't get muddy. I love that call and response sample in the middle of the beat too. Probably J.Cole's best ever beat.

Spinning the new Cordae album, The Crossroads rn. Will drop my thoughts

Demi @demarjgrant.bsky.social · 15/11/2024

So I've heard! This is interesting to me because I never considered Young Nudy a gym music artist. My favourite projects by hum are Sli'merre and Anyways which are very breezy, carefree cruising albums to me

Demi @demarjgrant.bsky.social · 15/11/2024

Love the cybernetic type of production Pi’erre went for with Nudy on Sli’merre 2. Considering how breezy and carefree Nudy’s rapping style is, it’s a really interesting contrast. Also since Nudy has every flow in the book, he can always make the track work. Money

I was one of the few people who tuned into SahBabii’s Saaheem. That shit has some amazing production on it. Sylvan Rd Ridin Down Dil is such a vibe while the 808s punch and bounce at the same time. Really subtle strings too. One of the best beats of the year

Again if someone like Shams or Schefter makes the jump Bluesky gains instant mainstream relevance. Sports news is one of the main drivers of Twitter’s popularity

Demi @demarjgrant.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

I was surprised by how good it was. I’m a big Sli‘merre and Anways fan (not so much the other projects) and it felt like the most fully realized version of his music. I don’t think he could’ve made a song like Breakdown in the past. Pi’erre’s production has really progressed too
