So, that was a pretty strange Direct. Kind of felt like Nintendo was pulling their punches, if that makes any sense? Metroid and Kirby were big announcements, but they were also the ONLY two new first party games to show up. A weirdly low number for these presentations.

I guess it says something that my first reaction to the OoT remake gameplay was to go "Holy shit." This is a REMAKE remake the way Star Fox was. Same bones, whole new coat of paint and extra flourishes meant to take what was already there and raise it further.

In a way, this shows the divide in what types of crossovers games are interested in. Do you want as many recognizable faces in one place, or do you want fewer but with more effort put into adapting them? Fortnite's all about the former. Smash leans toward the latter.

One thing about Fortune's Weave that I haven't seen brought up yet? How all of the cutscenes we've seen appear to be in-engine. No externally made animations needed! Which seems to have multiple implications.

Have to admit, I didn't expect these to all be from TotK when we have a remake of OoT and a movie on the horizon. Does it tell us that Nintendo still wants the Wild era to be prominent in merch and etc.? Or does it just mean these figures were in development for a long time? Hard to say yet...
