Ah, well. Thank you for taking the time to answer. I appreciate that.

T&T also used the term "Dungeon Master" in print before D&D did.

@squadronuk.bsky.social Do you by chance have a copy of the original, self-published Golden Heroes that you'd be willing to sell? It's one of my RPG "grails", and I've been trying to find one for years. I thought I had a line on one, but it doesn't seem as though it's going to work out.

Part 2 is my favorite of the series, but I always felt that part 5 is overhated.

It has come to my attention that the seemingly unstoppable cartoonist Matt Howarth has recently passed away. Condolences to my fellow Howarth aficionados and friends. His truly was a rare talent. From a few years back, here's a paean to one of his finest creations: whosoutthere.ca/2020/10/13/t...

"How did you get into TTRPGs?" Happened upon a group of kids playing during recess in elementary school. Someone handed me a character to use. And away we went.

the 800-pound gorilla in the room and say, "You're not so tough." While I have at times been vociferously critical of Ken, this is sad, sad news. T&T is my favorite game, and Ken St. Andre lit a torch that legions of gamers could use to find their own way through the dungeon.

Ken St. Andre, creator of Tunnels & Trolls, has announced on Facebook that he is terminally ill. He has perhaps a few months to live. Ken is an unsung titan of the gaming industry, and Tunnels & Trolls was a shot across the bow of the then-nascent D&D juggernaut. T&T was the first game to look at

If you liked AGFA, there’s also “Trailer War” on Tubi. And one YT’er who routinely posts gloriously unrestored 1-2 hr. compilations of 60’s-70’s grindhouse trailers to choose from (late 60’s hippie dramas included): youtu.be/dPSRC4G0NIA (“GMRX? What’s GMRX?”)

I always wondered if Golden Heroes could be used to run a fun "Dial H For Hero" type of game. Premade characters that the players don't see ahead of time. Sire, people like making their own characters. But on the other hand, GH chargen is random. I think it wouldmake a fun adventure or campaign.

5.5. Is just 5 with some articles, house rules (like Spite Damage) and stuff added at the end. The ".5" bits haven't been made available in PDF, unfortunately. Except for Spite Damage (which is IMO essential), the rest is nice but not necessary. I have a few extra 5.5. box sets if you want to buy

Yes, that's 5.5. Definitely MY favorite. Deluxe and 5/5.5 are pretty evently tied for most popular edition. Can't go wrong with either one. Both are available in PDF. But, yeah, deadtree will cost ya. 5.5 is more reasonably priced than Deluxe for sure.

in the course of play. *Burley's original Squadron UK earned him a "cease and desist" from Games Workshop. He went back to the drawing board and authored the currently available edition of Squadron UK.

"Alternate Origins". White Dwarf had a bunch of great GH articles. I admin a GH group on Facebook if you ever wanna check it out. Back to your original idea, Simon Burley wrote a campaign for Squadron UK (essentially GH 2nd edition*), set in WWII where players start without powers amd acquire them

Gun to my head, pick a favorite tabletop RPG - I just can't. It will always be a toss-up between Tunnels & Trolls and Golden Heroes. The former because it gets right to the fun stuff. The latter because it feels like being ten and reading a comic book again.
