It's entirely so that that the long form podcast video can then be chopped up into short form clips to run on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, which enables people to discover the podcast. Audio doesn't go viral, video does. That's basically it.

I think that this is a very healthy attitude from a very wise man. And it plays into the fact that for any artist, the work and the process need to be the primary reward, rather than the subsequent success or reception. Do the thing and enjoy it!

Yeah, I'm always happy to help them, that's part of the parent/child contract! My main frustration is that my Dad wouldn't go to a shop to look at the laptop first, and refused to wait for when I'm visiting them weekend after next. He had to have it now now now!

Having to do remote tech support for my parents who've bought a new laptop without looking at it in a shop and it doesn't do what they want and they can't see the keys and I'm not sure if they can now return it and oh god please why couldn't they wait 10 days for me to visit i hate my life send help

Yeah, it's a funny thing. I genuinely think that things are the same but different. People are more engaged across the board these days, whereas older people checked out of pop culture in the past, but everyone has their own unique little bubble built by taste and algorithms.
