Chicago’s Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability is holding a listening session where residents can share what they want to see in their next Police Superintendent. Last week, I published a story for @unraveledpress.com press diving into the commission’s current turmoil.

Civilian oversight blues: inside Chicago’s ongoing police accountability meltdown
Chicago has a new community police oversight body that emerged in response to the historic 2020 protests. According to those elected to serve, however, it’s already full of cops.

When politicians say they oppose ICE but propose more local police, their objections to ICE are based solely on optics/aesthetics.

Commissioners can’t feel proud of themselves after that hearing. So disappointing. The best question asked tonight was by Commissioner Minor regarding June 4th. DC’s will be using G01-11 to ask the questions that we should have heard tonight.

These charges were baseless from the start—a clear case of govt overreach and a waste of public resources. I’m incredibly relieved to see my friend and colleague @catsharp.bsky.social vindicated. The charges against the remaining four should be dropped as well, but this is a good step.

We've seen another morning of increased ICE activity with DHS helicopter out and about in Chicagoland. Feds have taken people from Humboldt Park and Ravenswood. Vehicles also seen in Rogers Park. ICE watchers are asking north side neighbors to get outside and keep an eye on landscapers & laborers.
