The evolution of business is what makes business cycles always end up like this every couple decades. Small studios that grow bigger eventually sell, then some get dissolved or absorbed. Only a small fraction do not sell and just literally die with the company (like founders are old and gone).

I understand why you would feel this way, because video games is your job. I don't understand why consumers feel this way. Nobody on my feed feels this way about the other layoffs and closures and discourse in any other industry except video games.

I would be dead before the initial $300 mil with interest is paid back to investors, if it would ever be paid back because profits, and rate of profits are never guaranteed. AAA video games take too long to make.

Honestly if I could acquire $300 mil in capital (which would probably be the money required to buy Arcane Studios) I wouldn't. Making Video Games is not a good financial investment. Everything lateral to it is extremely lucrative, from marketing to publishing. But not development.

VMware has eliminated my problems playing games from older or other operating systems. But one needs to keep up with them. PC enthusiasts have no issues, but people who only use it to game probably don't know what to do.

There is no commercially viable solid state battery right now that doesn't use lithium in some capacity. It is in use for military and industrial variants, but I thought people are willing to pay the pricetag currently associated with it.

I never understood certain aspects of modern game development for single player games. It's actually cheaper to make them with minimal to no online aspects. Do you know why even single player games require online? Besides DRM, Trophies and Achievements.

The real issue is somewhere along the way, after 1970, the government has slowly eroded and broken the public trust for basically half its citizens. Thus leading to our current problem. I can point it directly to policies that are pro business thru the decades. Pro business hurts regular citizens.

Just curious. How do you propose they preserve an always online game? Most online games have game play elements that wouldn't work offline. Do you propose they continually pay for servers in perpetuity? What happens when tech changes? Active games their systems are updated, but an inactive one?

PC preserves games way better than the console makers. PC is the better lifetime value. Free full games from Steam, GOG, Epic, Amazon (if you already have prime, then you have Amazon Gaming). I collect about 20 games a month, they are older sure, but anything I never played before is new to me.
