you might say "oh deerteeth, 'shadow man' sounds scary for a small child" which is fair, but this is what he looked like:

a cartoon character wearing a cloak with a floppy hood, a red cloth over his mouth and nose, and just some cartoony eyes above the cloth. lik ehe just looks like a little dude.

i watched happily ever after (1989) with my older sister & her friends (not in 1989 but sometime in the early 90s) and for reasons i cannot explain, i was TERRIFIED of the shadow man

truly when i learned about how industrial clothing sizing was developed — it’s incredible how much it’s spun to be our “fault” for not fitting in these “standards” when there is no standard to begin with lol

just for reference here are how many points of measurement go into one custom fit bodice block. now extrapolate that to pants. this is why going by measurements on a size chart doesn’t always give you a good fit, bc your proportions could be very different from whatever pattern block they’re using

as a person who likes to Do Things and Be Capable, and who used to hang her self-worth on being useful & helpful, it’s agonizing to just lie around while other people do all the manual labor of packing and moving
