Fundamentally it's not just about pseudoscience, but the trustworthiness of the source of information. If psychics were reliably accurate (they obviously aren't) then it would make sense to use them.

Yeah, and with so many "experts" flocking the latest "AI solution" it's like popping a billion bubble wrap bubbles, rather than the burst we need to fix things.

Watergate is an overused benchmark, but it's the one most Americans are familiar with. That scandal involved a president trying to cover up a crime that was basically breaking and entering by his subordinates, a misdemeanor in most places. This one, meanwhile ...

Something that an AI agent can't do is tell you what thoughts and questions you actually have when you read something. Here are some of mine about the passage below, and why I value teaching students to think critically: so they can ask their own questions.
Annotations of a quotation. Here are the annotations: No it is not.
That is bad. But also why we worry about tools that do your thinking for you since the process is what helps you figure out what you think. An AI agent that goes to school for you is all about output.

In a class where you do your own writing and thinking you would learn to ask questions about this. What is education? What do you value? What is the purpose of things? How will Einstein AI help with that process?
These are the kinds of questions I’d want my students to ask and answer themselves. How does agentic AI help? If it’s an act of resistance against the system, why does it cost so much? Why not offer it for free to students who want to bring down the system?

Great question that is asked by many. How does EinsteinAI help us get closer to an answer? Here is the quotation: For Paliwal, agentic AIs are a method of freeing people from the labor of education. “I think we really need to question what learning even is and whether traditional educational institutions are actually helping or harming us,” he said. “We're seeing a rise in unemployment across degree holders because of AI, and that makes me question whether this is really what humans are born to do. We've been brainwashed as a society into valuing ourselves by the output of our productive work, and I think humanity is a lot more beautiful than that. Is it really education if we're just memorizing things to perform a task well?”

One of the problems with claims of this sort is that they assume a model of biology and behavior that simply isn't true. The assumption that something like our biology can be the primary agency of specific behavior patterns, especially abstract ones, is just plain wrong.
