I think I saw a fully loaded persimmon tree on my commute today. Unfortunately was in a rush and did not have a chance to take a second look. I'm exiited to see it again tomorrow! I did not know they could grow here, and I am looking for a tree for my front yard. #Atlanta #trees

Christopher Columbus And The Replacement-Level Historical Figure | Defector
It’s easy to tell Columbus’s story as one of a determined innovator, triumphing over the backwardness and ignorance of medieval Europe to usher in a new era of global exploration, trade, colonization, and conquest through sheer grit and clarity of vision. That is all absolute nonsense, but it is a very easy story to tell.

How to get into nature, by Rosemary Mosco. rosemarymosco.com/comics/bird-and-m…
4 panel cartoon
How to get into nature
Woman kneels looking at a lizard in the forest:
Notice a living thing.
The lizard, surrounded by plants and insects:
Notice some other things
that live near it.
Text panel:
Notice the connections between them, discover the wider ecosystem, learn about its histories, and find yourself following links from bedrock to stratosphere, between biotic and abiotic, at scales both microbial and massive, until you're hopelessly overwhelmed by the wonder of it all.
Woman is being engulfed by moss:
Fall into a daze and let moss engulf you.
