From a commercial site but a good article nonetheless. Some decent ebike resources as well. The cycling world is starting to sort out when an ebike is still a good fit for riding with non ebikes & importantly, when is an ebike not really a bicycle. For me - to be biking - pedalling has to happen.

Although Canada is still ranked very high, this is a big drop. The United States has an even larger drop so North America as a whole is slipping. Note that the data only covers to 2024 so certainly the U.S. will have dropped further and quite likely Canada too.

Renewed commitment to the purpose of the Countdown Pebble Mosaic Project to end gender-based violence with a visit to Eganville's Pebble Mosaic Memorial. Since 2016, ReDefine Arts helped 5,000 people at 125 workshops to make public mosaics in 13 Ontario communities, in honour of those affected.

As of March 31, 2026, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board held shares valued at over $24 billion in publicly-traded fossil fuel companies. That is wrong on so many levels. Our money is being invested in companies which are responsible for climate change & are putting our future in grave danger.

The Carney government made deep cuts to science across the board at a time when the work that many do is essential. The Canadian Space Agency is affected but still has to honour its role in the International Charter "Space & Major Disasters" monitoring. Many are disasters related to climate.

My small town of Bancroft ON has public washrooms in 2 locations. One closes Oct. to May. The other opened all year every day. Not now. Closed weekends. Many tourists visit in winter. We also have a significant number of people who are homeless. Winter here is very cold & snowy. Connect the dots.

Given lack of progress globally on eliminating human causes of climate deterioration, awarding good journalism is valuable. Seeing the phrase "thrilled to announce the winners" made me shudder though. How did we reach a point where we need people to write about so many negative & harmful policies??

Pushback and cracks in fast tracking plans by Carney's government. NL provincial Liberal opposition party agrees with the Labrador Innu's position. It would seem the provincial & federal governments are out of step with Truth & Reconciliation which puts the Indigenous version of history first.

Reassuring to see some MSM reporting on protesters at Carney's investment summit in Toronto. In the past, little to no attention has been given unless there was some kind of huge skirmish as at the 2010 G20 gathering in Toronto when protesters' rights were blatantly violated. Scary then & now.

The Investment Summit is full on disregarding rights and dividing people with strategic lucrative offers. Early colonizers may not have understood fully but in 2026, there is no way to justify this behavior and harm caused.
