What’s Next? We will continue to work with claimants to help resolve disputes. For works where all rightsholders are in agreement and where all necessary payment information is provided, we expect to send a first round of payments in November 2026.

If you submit multiple updates for the same copyright number, your most recent submission will replace any earlier submissions.

If you already updated the allocation for a work, then you do not need to submit those updates again. Any changes you submitted previously through the online portal are recorded, but the portal is not being updated in real time.

As a result of these updates, some works on your claim may now be categorized differently. We encourage you to review the current allocations for your works. How to Review and Update Your Allocations Please use your claim number and PIN above to log into the portal below.

In addition, the portal is updated to reflect that some claimants changed their sole ownership claims to default claims, and some claimants withdrew their claims. What This Means for You

Based on feedback from claimants, we updated how certain works are categorized. In particular, where multiple claimants submitted default claims for the same ownership interest in a work, we changed those works from agreement to disagreement.

I'm fairly sure the only goal here was to get a viral clip. They don't care if it's true or not.

My coauthor told me that she didn't even claim the books. because she thought that it was enough that I did it. So, it appears no one else claimed them but me. So why are they in disagreements? Why?

WriterDeanna @deannachase.com · 30/09/2026
Mine are now on the disagreements page and say default. Before I changed it to 50% each they all said no disagreements and the allocation was 25%.

Yes, I really do think she just wants a chance to air out her grievances with the appeals court under another appeal, so she doesn't have to do one herself.

WriterDeanna @deannachase.com · 16/09/2026
It's been just about two weeks since she was told to file the correct paperwork. I feel like at this point, since her appeal is unclear and she's been very untimely, that getting the appeals court to agree she has a valid, timely appeal is getting weaker by the day. 🤞we never hear from her again.

No wonder my husband floated the idea of trading the truck in for a hybrid today. I shot him down cause the truck is paid for, gets great fuel milage, and is incredibly useful. Luckily we don't drive that much, so not the wallet-buster it is for some people. But... we'll see.

I'm also stupidly mad that we self published co-authors have to do the work to make sure we get the right allocation.

WriterDeanna @deannachase.com · 13/09/2026
Someone did say they called and someone told them updated allocations could take up to a week. No idea if that'll prove true.

Agree it's very frustrating. Worse, I haven't heard of anyone seeing any movement since last weekend when HarperCollins fixed their allocations. And I keep seeing people say they've emailed about missing books and other questions and receiving no answers. I suppose some got answers, but...

As far as regular skin care, I've tried a lot of different stuff. For me, less is more. I do have sensitive skin and if I overdo it, yikes. I've found that CeraVe works great and it's not expensive.

I'll also add that I think there needs to be an extensive FAQ for the disputes and resolutions added, but they don't appear to be doing that. The process has been confusing and frustrating to say the least. We deserve better.

4) The first round of payments are still scheduled for on or before Nov 15th assuming there are no late appeals that are allowed to go forward.

3) Everyone was supposed to get an email by Sept 4th regardless of disbutes. If you did not, I'd check my spam and then contact them.

2) If someone does not have a valid email on file, they are sending your claim allocations to your physical address via mail. So if you had a typo in your email and/or your email is bouncing and you have not heard from them at all, you might be getting something in the mail.

1) The 30 days to resolve disputes is now 60 days. And to be clear, they say if the disputes have not reached an agreement by 60 days, that's not a hard deadline. Payments for books with disputes will just be held up until there is a resolution.

For those following along with the Anthropic Settlement drama, Class Counsel has filed with the court to update the website. The following updates have been requested:

Great write up. I know another author who has Hachette UK trying to make claims on her books. Penguin Random House sold them subrights, and she was confused, so I sent her this. I know it's slightly different, but figuring out who has rights would be the same.

Remember when I said the Anthropic settlement made me email for a spreadsheet? They just changed it so that I can now see my works in the portal. That's good. I prefer that, but man, this rollout has been messy.

It's not our fault that their system didn't account for this. Now that they know about it, they should be looking for all files that have two claims at 25% each.

It would be so easy for someone to think, Great. I filed. They say everything is fine. Nothing else to do. Especially someone who is trusting and not as jaded as the rest of us.

For each work included in your claim, you can review the combined information from all claims and see the proposed payment allocations. All claimants currently agree on the allocations for these works, so you do not need to take any further action to receive the share you claimed.

This feels like something they should fix on their end. The 1st email I first got actually says: You can now review your claim summary in the Anthropic Copyright Settlement. You can request your claim summary by phone at 1-877-206-2314 or email at BulkClaimFiling@AnthropicCopyrightSettlement.com.

I agree. It makes no sense that we'd have to have a spreadsheet. I filed it all online. It's not like I sent it in as a bulk filing. But I can see every claim on my spreadsheet. It shows she's listed as a co-author, so I have no idea wtf is happening.

Same. Latest fuck up. Violet (my co-writer) doesn't even have our shared books on her summary form. Just her own single titles. Now I'm worried they gave those books to someone in the class that shares her name despite me putting her address in when claiming them. She also claimed them herself.
