Still... It's so enjoyable. It's a fun game and I'm hooked. The tempo is so right, and nothing drags. The locations are all so different and creative. I get why this has been a fan favourite for so long.

On to playing Final Fantasy VII OG on Steam, and the German version is 1:1 the same game I played in the late 90s, warts and all. The translation is rushed and abysmally poor. Some dialogue scenes are cut off, don't make any sense, or are simply weird.

Today I wrote about 300 lines of Rust featuring "unsafe" that I thought about quite carefully. Then I started adding safety comments. The act of needing to convincingly argue that something is true made me find and fix 3 bugs I had missed before. Safety comments exist for a reason!

I'm 5 hours in and I think I'll stick with it. It's on my bucket list to finish it for more than 25 years, so why not finally get it going? :-) But the German translation is atrocious. Not necessarily the script (which has some flaws), but it's so full of bugs it's ridiculous.

I recently replayed it because of the 30th anniversary. Still holds up great! Good pacing, exciting locations, and just fun to experience. The German translation is also quite good!
