Just the right amount of water, sunlight, various vitamins and nutrients, exercise, social interaction, and news/social media. Just nail down all those variables and maybe you can reproduce it intentionally. Flesh really is a prison.

There may be opportunities to tell AI users your perspective, but choose your battles, know your arguments, and know when to pack it in and leave the discussion behind, because, again, you cannot change other people, and things out of your control are not worth stress. It takes practise.

At the end of the day you cannot control the actions of others, so if you find yourself distressed because of it, the only solution is to self-examine about why it makes you feel that way, and either adjust yourself or detach.

Aside from the usual "be mindful of your news intake", and setting aside that I left formal education long ago, I am lucky enough that I do not have to use it at work, so am largely free of it, so what I do is focus on myself: what I do, why I do it, where I derive enjoyment, fulfilment.

I have been doing some drawing with an e-ink tablet lately, and it has been really enjoyable. I had forgotten that I am more of a technical draftsman than an illustrator, and I am very happy for the rediscovery.

Whenever I remember that Mirrors Edge exists I get overcome with this sort of blissfully content sense of calm and solitary peace. A feeling like "it is all going to be ok" which is odd because while the game had peaceful moments it was anything but.

I partially retract the retraction. I was inheriting from an Unreal class, then Epic deleted the copy constructor and = operator in a new version, and I did not properly reimplement them. What a massive pain in the ass that was.

Yeah Bitwarden was my choice because it provides syncing/cloud support for you, with the option to self-host, but I think a password manager is the one thing I would not self-host because I *need* it to be secure and reliable, which I cannot guarantee for myself T_T

I have to say I am saddened (but not at all surprised) by how few apps, services, etc provide non-PlayStore APK downloads, either directly or via FDroid or something. It is so easy to do (easier than deploying to the PlayStore) and important now that google is locking down the platform as a whole.

Feeling very accomplished: I am posting this to both Bluesky and Mastodon in a single post, on an open (degoogled) Android distro, on an open source phone which also has a Linux partition I can boot to instead. Dare I say it I feel free. Also SD card, headphone jack, and removable battery, glorious.
