Have you ever felt like something was missing from your #fmri results? Have you been worried about potential reproducibility issues? Well, this new @natmethods.nature.com article with 40+ coauthors shows how the simple change to transparent thresholding helps both. Go Figure! rdcu.be/B4tikBETdQZa
A comparison of old and new thresholding approaches for fMRI data. The newer, transparent thresholding allows for interpreting context, more complete modeling, a reduction of biases and an increase in meaningful content. This all leads to more accurate interpretations and improved reproducibility evaluations.

A long road to here: python package for millisecond accurate stimulus tagging with EGI amplifiers new release: 2.1.0 (yea we skipped some numbers) now with background drift correction. Set it and kind of forget it; we hope. Available on pypi / GitHub. Works with psychopy. github.com/nimh-sfim/eg...

Simultaneous EEG and fMRI recording suggests that repetition-related changes in behavior and neural activity may result from earlier, more rapid increases in synchronized neural activity in task-involved brain regions. PDF available: www.nature.com/articles/s42...

Me: Hey LLM (ChatGPT/Claude), refactor this super class into a bunch of components so it's not the one point of failure. Chat/Claude: Sure thing... Chat/Claude: Done! Instead of doing what you asked, I did this much easier problem. What do you want to work on next?

With some trepidation, I'm putting this out into the world: gershmanlab.com/textbook.html It's a textbook called Computational Foundations of Cognitive Neuroscience, which I wrote for my class. My hope is that this will be a living document, continuously improved as I get feedback.

Releasing a NIfTI Quick Look tool compatible with macOS 15+. This is necessary since Apple significantly changed those frameworks and broke the (legendary?) Gary Zhang's old NIfTI plugin. PRs welcome! Download and build with Xcode: github.com/pmolfese/NIf... #mri #macOS #nifti #neuroscience #science

Fellow scientists: If you are going to make broad public pronouncements based on your results, please have someone check your math first. The general population is losing faith in science, and reversals like this are a big part of the problem.

PSA for applications for graduate school: 1) your backstory can be interesting and not read like a pitch for the next limited-run Netflix show; 2) you’re allocated a maximum of 3 commas per sentence, with bonus points for the occasional semicolon; 3) passive voice is bad.
