🪶 Good Morning, Happy Monday Everyone! Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is: #BlueSkies; any bird against a blue sky Alt. is #BadWeather; any bird in inclement conditions - A Peregrine Falcon in flight - A Goldfinch in the rain #ECK #birdphotography #birdsofbluesky #naturephotography #BlueskyMonday
A Peregrine Falcon flying in a clear blue sky. The bird is centre of the shot, flying towards the camera and to the right. It is visible from underneath and its wings are slightly folded in a downward beat.
It has a dark head with a hooked beak, whitish cheeks and throat and a prominent malar stripe (or moustache) running down the side of its face. Its underbelly is creamy white and covered in black steaks/dots. The outer fatehrsnon the wings are black and the yellow legs are tucked in under its tail.
The sun is shining in from the right and highlighting the edges of the wings but most of the visible part of the bird is in slight shade. A Goldfinch perched on a small branch in the rain. The bird is slightly right of centre of the frame, it is in side profile; looking left so its left side is visible. Its head is turned towards the camera. There is a decaying branch sticking up from the bottom centre of the shot and a small branch branches off that and to the right, travelling upward in a diagonal direction. Another small branch juts up from the bottom of the right hand corner.
The bird has a bright red mask, with a white ring around it; which itself has a black border. Its beak is pale, short and strong. The back is a warm buff-brown, the wings are black with white tips and a stunning gold-yellow wing bar. The tail is black with white tips and the underbelly is a pale white.
The bird is damp from rainfall and large drops can be seen frozen in the shot. The background is a uniform, out of focus green of woodland.
