I posted in my newsletter about an incarcerated comrade named Kenneth who is running a mobile library in prison. He needed a new cart and some readers generously donated. Here's the new cart! Thanks to those who supported him.
Two men in striped pants and white shirts stand by a cart with books, under a colorful “Perfection” sign on a white brick wall. One holds up two fingers in a peace sign, the other displays a book.

Our hometown river, the Rouge, has also caught fire due to pollution from industry! And we are similarly seeing positive wildlife news from decades of cleanup efforts. No otters yet, but they're nearby in the Detroit River!

A First Fridays mashup for the ages! Build a FrankenToy that will haunt your friends and family, tie-dye with natural dyes from our community garden, and join local artists Avery Williamson & Krista Skytta as they create a permanent community art installation for the library. See you Friday! 🧟🌿🎨
Orange flyer with bold black text reading "First Fridays at the Library, for all ages. FrankenToys, Natural Dyes & Community Art. Friday, Oct 2, 5–7pm, YDL-Michigan, 229 W Michigan Ave, Ypsilanti." The word FrankenToys is in a white, dripping horror-style font, flanked by two mismatched FrankenToys: an action figure with swapped arms and sneakers, and a green plush animal with a masked baby-doll head. Along the bottom is a colorful floral mural. On the left sits a green Care Bear with gray dinosaur legs, and on the right are artists Avery Williamson and Krista Skytta, standing in front of a blue tie-dye swirl.
