They are going to have to do something pretty impressive to change my mind that casting RDJ in this is just the laziest thing

Martin and I go back a long way. He has tried to sue me a few times

Martin has been Mark's little mate for a while now. He tends to do what Mark tells him to

We have a few but Mark is about the worst

New developments in sausages?

If Mark Hudson is your splendid plan then you are indeed doomed. The man's a complete nut job listened to by basically nobody

And as @arseblog.com said this morning, is it credible that 2018 was the moment they realised the error of their ways?

I did telesales for Mercury 121 in '93 - '94 and it was all cellphone.

From a tax point of view it is really rare for companies to inflate their revenue as, if profitable, it makes them liable for more tax. It would be hard to characterise this as tax avoidance so I doubt HMRC are going to be that bothered

Exactly. He'll have to come back and make the same speech again next year because there will be little progress on a lot of what has been committed to

Terms are baked into contracts. This is impossible to implement

It's probably fair to say that a foreign actor has indeed driven up the price of fuel to the point that it is now a very stealable commodity

Daz @dazwright.com · 29/09/2026
It's a lot of nice commitments from Andy Burnham but as they're mostly due to happen in the distant future is he going to come back next year and give the same speech?

Yeah, both my parents had dementia until recently. Care home costs were over £16k a month. The point about no support to navigate the system is well made. It was a very quick learning curve for me and I’ve spent decades working in health

Huge news. We’re always banging on about how important it is that local journalism is paid for, but we know younger people often struggle to afford a news subscription.

But weirdly came across as a Government that wasn't on anyone's side as it had(s) a unique ability to annoy absolutely everyone

We might need to invent some sort of numerical restrictions. We could call them "word limits" or something similar

Do they think we don't remember the year where they kept telling us that we couldn't afford to lift children out of poverty?

Definitely consider Citizens Advice if they are recruiting. I think your experience is very relevant and they are pretty good at recruiting outside of London.

Or…. It’s not a problem. It’s just what humans do and have always done

It’s a bit of a broad term. There’s the London charitable sector that really isn’t that different to the public sector doing “national” work and then there’s the rest of the country which is very different. The major difference being much less money for similar work

It cost 15 Euros for 2 sunbeds for day. But because they got their at lunch time they were only willing to pay 30 Euros We're in Meganisi. It's very nice

Daz @dazwright.com · 24/09/2026
English people on this Greek beach are adamently trying to haggle over the price of sunbeds because they'll only be here half the day. But because of their fundamental lack of understanding of the price structure are trying to get away with paying double. Indignantly

He is a man who seems to be disproportionately interested in pints. To the point that I think his unifying potiical project is "pints"

You could spend hundreds of pounds a year on streaming platforms offering variable quality TV series and films. Or…….you could spend hundreds of pounds a year on Substack subscriptions. It’s less of a return in terms of value but you get to…..learn something……read something….. I don’t know

Very good. Is there also something in sketches just being great content in a world looking for clips? If anything this is the time sketch shows should work

If you live in Birmingham you have to subscribe to the Dispatch. It's our last bit of functioning news. You use it or lose it

What I love most about them is the amount of spin off success they're bringing to other people. Just through being nice and prolific

Starfire’s Deranged Neocon Foreign Policy Podcast @irhottakes.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
It’s very simple. A reality TV host became dictator because he turned down a role for Sharknado 4 and that’s why the king of outer space, who cheats at Diablo, got to kill Africa. Now the economy is controlled by a sex cult that has something to do with Harry Potter fanfic because of robots.

It's remarkable how many "our AI is so clever it escaped" stories are actually "we're terrible at security" stories

General inflation. I've not heard of electronics inflation as a distinct concept
110
Daz @dazwright.com · 16/09/2026
I'm not sure. Even the PS5 pro is cheaper than the PS1 when adjusted for inflation. Having said that I think there a good few years left in the PS5 and the growth in data centre capacity could get rid of the need for a dedicated console
