I ran out of shampoo and used bar soap for a couple days and then decided I was irritated at having a bottle sitting in my shower that always gets gross and so I kept using bar soap for my hair. It's been several months and I'm literally just using a bar of dial soap in the shower and I'm a big fan.

DHS doesn’t even bother trying to lie well. The man whose skull was shattered told the hospital he’d been struck by ICE officers, an ICE officer told hospital staff the guy “got his sh*t rocked,” then when it became clear how badly he was injured, they claimed he deliberately ran into a wall.

ICE's account of how he was hurt evolved during the time that federal officers were at his bedside. At least one ICE officer told caregivers that Castañeda Mondragón "got his (expletive) rocked" after his Jan. 8 arrest near a St. Paul shopping center, the court filings and a hospital staff member said. His arrest happened a day after the first of two fatal shootings in Minneapolis by immigration officers.
The Department of Homeland Security, which includes ICE, did not respond to repeated requests for comment on his injuries. A deportation officer skirted the issue in the court documents, saying that during the intake process at an ICE detention center, it was determined he "had a head injury that required emergency medical treatment."

Does the water also taste weird to you? I almost threw up the first time I tasted water in London. Bottled, not tap. I drank water in many areas of the UK and tried every brand of bottled water I saw. I was there for six months and got used to it but holy shit I did not miss it.

I consider containers for reheating to be a separate category. I think it's useful to think of food storage as separate from things meant to be eaten in. You do not have to store everything in microwave safe containers, you can portion out onto dinnerware or into glass containers as needed.

I'm convinced that 99% of food storage in home kitchens can be effectively accomplished with polypropylene cambro style containers and food pans. I'm genuinely finding it difficult to think of exceptions. So far I just have cupcakes, sometimes, as they may have problems moving around in a food pan.

When I give public talks now, I explain we are living through a series of de facto constitutional amendments, where the executive asks for radically more power, the judiciary largely agrees, and the GOP-led Congress is committing a form of institutional suicide. Very much this:

There is no formal mechanism in the American system of government to dissolve the legislature. And for good reason: Congress is an independent institution with its own sphere of authority. To give any actor the power to dissolve it would fatally undermine its place in the nation’s constitutional arrangement.

But by keeping the House on indefinite hiatus — as well as sidelining its oversight authority and more or less ceding its power to make law to the president — Republicans have successfully circumvented the text of the Constitution to make our national legislature a nullity. They have, for all intents and purposes, dissolved Congress.
