It's finally time!!! I can show you the cover of my upcoming middle grade graphic novel: Birdie Marigold and the Mini Golf Mystery! It'll be out next July & I really can't wait for you to read this one.

Cover of the upcoming graphic novel "Birdie Marigold and the Mini Golf Mystery." Two girls with shocked looks on their faces loom over a mini golf course shrouded in darkness. A spotlight hits a hooded figure running across the course.

This is my favourite scene in that whole series. I liked TOM STRONG a lot, but this scene, was a whole new level. It's been decades, but I remember sitting up, like "Oh damn," as I was reading. I love the panel of Tesla saying they should do something, and Tom being like, "Yeah, there's no way."

Sometimes I'm so caught up in enjoying a piece of art that it's tough to break out of that and think about why I'm enjoying it.

It's so interesting to see the same cover concept filtered through two very different artists. Comparing them, I saw the big foreground hands in Villa's and thought, "Oh, yeah, Mignola would NEVER." That got me thinking about why he wouldn't, and I landed on the graphic flatness of Mignola's style.

But your larger point stands. I've got a few things that I've bought lifetime supplies of just to avoid being caught flat footed. I remember reading that Charles Schulz did the same with a type of pen nib he liked.

Have you tried Touch markers? I bought some a little while back so I think they’re still available, and I’ve generally been able to find them for less than Copics. And they’re good.

Audible is already a terrible platform (with features like purchased credits hthat expire) and somehow they managed to make it WORSE.

From that setup, I was sure the last line here was going to be some kind of riff on, "And his hair was perfect."

There's a creator who's relentlessly positive and I could tell they were going through some stuff one time b/c all they posted was, "What're 10 films people love that suck?", "What's a comic you hate?", etc. They levelled out but it highlighted how a negative premise only encourages more negativity.

Took my 6yo to see it. Realized en route that he'd never seen any Looney Tunes so I briefed him on the premise of the Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote. He laughed SO HARD at the scenes of the Coyote failing. Deep belly laughs. It acted as a kind of laugh track and made others in the theatre laugh more.

Davinder Brar @davinderbrar.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

Just got it from seeing COYOTE VS ACME, and I know movies hit people in different ways, but this one pressed all my buttons. Surprisingly emotional, and thematically resonant... which are two things i never expected to say about a Looney Tunes movie. You should go see it.

I listened to a podcast that explained the history of the spelling differences. It was an effort to make US English unique, but also more logical (British spellings took from European versions of words, often including silent letters). Some stuck (color over colour), some didn't (tung over tongue).

I had a professor in the early 2000s who said, regarding THAT 70s SHOW, "It wasn't like that." I thought about him earlier when someone made the point that if AUSTIN POWERS were made today it'd be about a spy frozen in 1996. Made me think how people who were adults in 1969 must've viewed that movie.

I saw the movie on opening week Friday and the sound cut out for ten minutes right during that scene. I steadied myself by thinking that when I see the movie again it'll be like I'm getting bonus material.

I'm buying a new computer for the 1st time in 16 yrs(!), the longest I've gone between computers. Bought my current machine in 2010 at the liquidation of a local video game developer and it was a beast. But age gets us all. Now I feel like a boomer who last moved in the 70s, dazed at market prices.

Probably a more trivial example than those listed, but right here on Bluesky the Alt text on images can be handy even though I'm not visually impaired. If a pic is posted as a punchline to a joke and I'm out of the loop, the Alt text is handy for explaining the ref. Aggravating when it's not there.

I'm a picky moviegoer, so I wanted to see THE ODYSSEY in the opening week, but only in IMAX 70mm, and only in decent seats. It took time but I managed both. Pleased with myself, until the sound cut out at the halfway point. During a tense scene. They paused and fixed it but we lost 10 mins of story.
