In an odious era for music, and they were second only to Alice in Chains for odiousness.

Middle brow, middle of the road mush like this is the worst of Seattle culture. Played well with the Rep's core audience, which will no longer include us.

Because things have sides!! That's not the problem. The problem is making sure their side loses, not protecting everyone's feelings. I don't give a shit about their crybaby backstoriers. We all have our problems. I just want to defeat them.

Sorry, a drama about finding commeon ground with anti-vaxxers is worse than irrelevant. Squishy bullshit that indulges their delusions at this point in the destruction of our healthcare system by MAHA assholes is basically taking their side.

Meanwhile, it invites us to emapthize with anti-vaxxers and the trauma that leads them to endanger all of us with their bullshit.

It got laughs galore mocking touchy-feely language that gets used in meetings but means nothing. "We need to bring everyone along," etc.

We saw the play Eureka Day, about anti-vaxxers at a private school, at the Seattle Rep this weekend and thought it was a pile of reprehensible mush.

Yesterday it was one big cloud. Today no clouds, except some wispy cirrus bullshit (or maybe a jet trail?). I call bullshit on Seattle clouds.

It'd be cool if the next time the local media fall over themselves to capture the latest pearls of wisdom from Brad Smith about how making corporations pay taxes is bad, they'd ask about this.

Thank you ! I was also searching for this info. Description doesn’t display when you access this via Bluesky for some of us and I had to know. It’s the most trivial things that drive us. Like cozy cardigans and 800 dollar soft pants.

Yes please send more cops from the same department that brutalized queer kids to protect Christian bigots at that very park.

Naming things is divisive. Let's do this for all geography. The Gulf. The Lake. The River. The Continent.

I prefer the original art and agree he’s condescending and should have credited the original artists. I collect Carl Barks. But I also think Lichtenstein’s prints and paintings as physical objects seen in person are exquisite and transporting.

Geov Parrish was a friend, a co-blogger, a fellow traveler, and early on a bit of a mentor. He forged a much larger role in Seattle's political media scene than should have been possible. He will be missed.

The messages in which officers Daniel Valencia and Matthew Stewart strategized their reports were part of a longer string of texts that started one hour and 14 minutes after they’d killed Joshua Musselman from more than 100 feet away as he was fleeing into his apartment.

‘I’m hoping we hit him at least once each lol’: SPD texts from 2024 killing show lack of probable cause
In messages, SPD officers hoped they inflicted maximum damage when they shot Joshua Musselman, mocked the police chief’s response to the killing.

In San Francisco, Lurie's RV ban—on which Dan Strauss' similar proposed ban in Seattle appears to be modeled—hasn't gotten people into shelter, but it has pushed them outside city limits, often after losing their RVs and becoming unsheltered. Is this what "success" will look like here?
missionlocal.org
S.F. cracked down on RV dwellers. A year later, many have left the city altogether.
Data shows that a year after San Francisco's RV ban, 1/3 of RV dwellers using city aid have moved outside city limits.

Contra this "burden" bullshit, I have heard *extensive* and *emotional* testimony from neighbors of tiny home villages about their feelings of pride and solidarity, and how their tiny home neighbors enhance the community in small ways (gardening, chatting) and large (safety).

Rick Beato fired the first salvo of making the term "yacht rock" into ragebait for aging boomers, but if we simply must turn every little goddamn thing into grist for the culture-war mill, I could not be more delighted if "Steely Dan isn't yacht rock" becomes an explicitly right-coded belief
