This could be the basis for a really weird origin story. Like Doc Savage's daily sensory training, but more todger-centric.

There are. I had to typeset braille as part of a job, and there's a whole standard for set size, dot height, and so forth.

For no good reason, my brain has decided that "poltergeists and banshees" is part of the "Oranges and Lemons" rhyme. Presumably recalling the bells of a shunned old church in London that was flattened in the Blitz, but whose bells can still sometimes be heard pealing late at night.

I asked ages ago but didn’t get much of a response so I’m taking another swing at it. Does anyone following me either know how to read Cree or know someone who can?

They played at a club where I was a bouncer back in the 80s. I actually got to watch the band for most of the show, because they had the least rowdy audience ever.

Every time I go grocery shopping for the past few years, I have been forced to conclude that the major brands have quarterly product meetings involving a room full of executives, a shit-ton of cocaine, and a big spinner wheel.

Based on some posts I've been seeing from the UK, I think it may be Michaelmas, the feast of St. Michael the Archangel.

It would certainly keep someone busy for a while, since after they got through the original six books, there are all the other ones, like Fortress of the Pearl. And they could also spend a couple of years on the adventures of the 20th Century's Elric, Jerry Cornelius.

New Yorkers, a storm is arriving today. Don't travel if you don't have to. Never drive or walk through floodwater. Call 911 if you are in danger, and report nonemergency issues to 311. Look out for one another and stay safe.

I always imagine his name as being some kind of 40s/50s hep slang. "A real bringdown, strictly from Tuberville" "I told him to go peddle his routine in Tuberville"

I visited Reno as a kid in the mid-1970s, and the sun-bleached barely-real ambience it had then would be about right. Like a fancy truck stop halfway to Area 51. A pale Instamatic fever dream. It's improved since then, so I am not sure where one would shoot this. The outskirts of Elko?

I don't think he's part of any particular strategy. He's always been an oleaginous conservative Dem with one eye on the main chance and the other on polling numbers. Not hugely different in many ways from Bill Clinton.

NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication 🔭🧪👌 ℹ️: science.nasa.gov/image-articl...
The imposing Callanish Stones stand talk with their shadows spanning out across the glass. It's a super clear sky, but looks cold. Above the central stone is a strange figure-of-8 shape of dots. This is the location of the Sun, at noon, on various different days across the year.

I used to be eerily good at using a #11 Xacto. There was a stretch when I used it to cut frisket film and tape, Amberlith, plus xeroxes, stats and typeset. I could also weed cut vinyl and masking films. A useful skill in its day, and one I may revive.

That actually sounds great, since I've spent my entire adult life as a loon magnet. Street schizos, seriously damaged Vietnam vets, and unclassifiable nuts approach me and launch into weird monologues that I'm apparently supposed to follow. It's like being in a Lynch film sometimes.
