Yeah. I can see why this kinda thing is counterproductive. My best explanation is that you get involved and you'll go out and see somebody in your city die under a box truck and some haters come out and want to know if they were wearing a helmet and like that makes you insane.

Ok fair. I'm not doing that. I got pilled on safe streets because pushing a baby around my city in a stroller felt way too dangerous, and i can see why an activist blog does this for clicks bc it's crazy-making to always feel like everyone underestimates the danger cars pose to tiny squishy bodies.

I mean, like, I get it, but on the other hand lots of people rely on riding bikes to get to and do their jobs, and three people on bikes were killed in hit & run crashes in less than a week in NYC (which is supposed to be one of the most bike-friendly cities in the U.S.). A handful of professional cyclists have been hit by cars before and during races this summer and it was inevitable that one of these crashes would end in death. It should be obvious by now that we persistently underestimate and ignore the danger that cars pose to people.

🙏 Just noise filter and boosted levels a little in Photoshop! I use a cheapy point and shoot on rides so I spend less time with my phone in front of me, and i can grab it outta my pocket and click away while i'm moving.
