They do say "extemd a ban on caged farming" which could be interpreted as banning fur farming but they need to say it explicitly. And they don't.

I do realise that I'm single-handedly keeping Karhu in business. But there really is a shoe and colour for every occasion. It was @paavoarhinmaki.bsky.social who first put me onto Karhus years ago and now I have so many pairs. Some people would say too many... but it's my only addiction!

Just mix equal parts lingonberry jam + mayo.

I understand. I once divided the Finnish internet by espousing the culinary delights of a 50/50 mix of lingonberry jam and Hellman's mayo as a sandwich spread...

Hear me out on this one, #Finland. Ruispalo + maapähkinävoi + banaani. Would I lie to you about how good it is?

Oh well. I'm cool with living in a eurozone world.

100

David Mac Dougall @davidmacdougall.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Seems to work just fine everywhere else. No eurozone country I've visited, or lived/worked in is demanding the return to their old currency!

100

David Mac Dougall @davidmacdougall.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

My genuinely/honestly held opinion is that opposition to the euro is entirely psychological and that people will get over it. There's no objections from the public on economic grounds, it's more "you'll never take our pounds!" rationale. If the French can swap francs for euros, the UK will survive.

And then when I started getting into it, Tara Bandito sounds incredible, in Welsh, and totally contemporary. Take a look/listen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkcb... It bears repeating, why don't we have any modern music in Scots? Any thoughts?

I've been wondering why we don't have any contemporary music in Scots. Not trad sounding with some fiddles and a drum or traddy with synths. Scots-language modern music. Take Welsh for example. I am obsessed with this Afrobeats Welsh-language track Teimlo by Lloyd. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EByI...

A majority of people in polls support something, PM opens the door to it happening. Except if you're Scotland and keep voting pro-independence parliaments at Holyrood. Then it's 'not the right time for a divisive referendum about the country's future'...

Pulled or strained shoulder muscle (and a wee bit of arthritis in her hips) that she would have recivered from in 48 hours a few years ago but she's about to be 11 and needed some anti-inflammatory drugs & painkillers from the vet, a 2 weeks off from koirajengi.

After two weeks off recovering from her injury, the dog is back having afternoon adventures with her #koirajengi friends, getting muddy, swimming, exploring and then coming home to sleep soundly for hours!

Why is Finland not able to protect the Gulf or Finland by itself? Maybe we should think to rename it the Gulf of Sweden? Or maybe if Finland had a submarine fleet of its own... okay, okay I'll stop now.

When I saw this story I considered that I might be a white supremacist considering that EVEN AS I TYPE my nails are shamelessly bare, just out there projecting far-right hatred with every second they remain un-varnished in a fetching shade of nail polish!

Luckily in Scotland we've had political leaders for years working on those same things, like a national care service, free personal care for the elderly, and having Scottish water publicly owned. Seems like the current UK PM has taken lots of policy cues from Scotland! You're welcome!

*Around 0.87% of all asylum seekers in the year to June 2026 were found to be "grown men who pretended to be under 18".

He sounds like a charmer indeed! Today I took the time to dive into Home Office statistics to debunk a local FB Billboard post that claimed "most of the illegals pretending to be children are actually grown men." Le Grand Sigh. The actual figure is more like 0.87% based on latest stats.

@corporalfrisk.com @charlyjsp.bsky.social I spotted a rare one in the wild at Euronews. Standards have slipped there since I left. "In the wake of Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Sweden and Finland both dropped decades of military non-alignment and joined NATO."

@seanferrick.bsky.social This episode actually ended up being rather jarring simply because it was on a different level to the rest of the season.

010

David Mac Dougall @davidmacdougall.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

@seanferrick.bsky.social Top tier. Top f-ing tier. Why couldn't the whole season have been written like that, with character development, and really intriguing hard core sci-fi like that? Instead we got puppets and children's fairytales, dressing up and prancing around. So many wasted episodes 😥
