I will say, I think Samantha Sloyan is pretty great as the mother. She feels the most real, and scary because of that. It's just most stuff outside of her and Carrie's scenes together aren't landing for me

I'm halfway through and it all just feels like padding. The story is so short and simple, without a lot of big moments throughout and adding so much extra time really makes that clear

After the second episode I think there's some interesting stuff with Carrie as the homeschooled kid joining the school, but largely it just feels like it's dragging stuff out for what is a pretty short novel

Watched the first episode of Carrie. Not really feeling it so far. There's good performances, but I'm not convinced there's 8 episodes of material in that book. Also it seems like they might be overcomplicating things

When it was rebroadcast during the 60th anniversary on November 23, 2023, Smith was replaced by Ncuti Gatwa, who was about to become the 15th Doctor.

Book 60 is Doctor Who: Spectral Scream by Hannah Fergesen. A pretty fun story this one. Has a cool sci-fi concept at its core and allows Belinda's character to motivate a couple of the key moments. I kind of wish it was a little longer, it could have done with a bit more time to breathe

Something I really do enjoy in Doctor Who books is that chapter endings often present opportunities for mini-cliffhangers. It's just fun to imagine the end of episode sting after lines like that
