Every MP and MLA in the province was invited to attend, along with Mayor Donna Reardon and all members of Saint John city council, along with UNB’s board of governors and senior administrators, according to Houlahan.
“None of the MLAs, none of the MPs, none of the city council, none of the board of governors, none of the senior admin from the university even responded, let alone accepted the invitation,” Houlahan said.

Revisiting this article I wrote last year on preliminary figures showing that a record-breaking number of temporary foreign workers in NB (170) had been deemed “vulnerable” by immigration authorities, which basically means they had suffered workplace abuse. It turns out the final number was 205.

My latest: At a recent virtual news conference, CFS officials said that student unions have a responsibility to fight for scholars trapped in Gaza. The UNB GSA has said it can't comment due to “privacy reasons,” and has suggested that the stranded students aren’t, in fact, part of the association.

Al-Barawi lost his leg last year when his family’s home in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood of Gaza City was targeted in an Israeli attack. His barbershop was also destroyed during the Israeli military assault on the Gaza Strip, which has been widely denounced as a genocide.
