First Days of Fall I just got back from 5 days on the Olympic Discovery Trail. Wonderful time to be there other than a rather wet 24 hours! #bikepacking #cycling #photography

Columbines and Cypress Spurge

This photo by Roland Steinmann shows purple Columbine flowers (Aquilegia vulgaris | Akeleien) with delicate, upward-facing petals and long spurs rising above a cluster of bright yellow-green Cypress spurge (Euphorbia cyparissias | Zypressen-Wolfsmilch). The columbines have slender stems and contrasting white centers, while the cypress spurge forms a dense, low mat of small, rounded leaves and tiny yellow blossoms. The background is a soft blur of green foliage.
