Yesterday was an evening of real contrasts. Finished work, legged it to the crèche, fed my toddler & sang lullabies to get her to sleep. Then cycled across town and found myself in the mosh pit at Amyl & the Sniffers. Amazing gig and just what the doctor ordered.

Whether you are happy with your #LeavingCert results or not, be warned that, even into your late 20s & early 30s, you may encounter a privately educated Dubliner who asks about your results because s/he is unable to place your small town school in their deeply internalised social hierarchy.

This amazing photo from Tom Maher in the @irishtimes.com sums up the feelings of Mayo people on All-Ireland Final day. If you zoom in, you see such a range of exhilaration and emotion. It's made all the more special to see a kid from Claremorris conducting the crowd like an orchestra. #MayoForSam

It must be the strangest feeling to go from living in Áras an Uachtaráin to moving back to your old house after 14 years. There are elements of the returning emigrant, but also the differing profile. As with many things, Michael D and Sabina know how it's done. www.independent.ie/irish-news/w...

Sadly, some cultural output succeeds, not despite being bland, but because of it. The rapid spread of algorithmic & AI content risks sending this into overdrive, creating material that is "technically accomplished and creatively inert". Interesting piece 👇 thesoundhack.beehiiv.com/p/economics-...

The comments quoted here really underline the Anglocentric priorities of Irish foreign policy at official level. For a country that presents itself as a beacon of multilateralism, and at the heart of the EU, it is frankly quite weird. www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...
