The process is a vote by the members noting for the record that 1) X number members gave aide or comfort to an insurrection against the United States; 2) Are disqualified and therefore cannot be seated; and 3) These seats are vacated and must be filled in accordance with the rest of the 14th amndmnt

Honestly, reality has already gotten a jump on this. All you have to do is show up and speak the honest truth.

If Democrats were serious they would go straight for the jugular of the crypto industry as soon as they take power. There’s public policy reasons to do this (name a non-crime use case), but also it cuts off a major artery for Republican support and corruption.

“If you publicize bad stuff about Trump/Rs, it will damage Democrats in the midterms” could be the Dem pollsters finally being right, or it could (more likely) be misleading nonsense.

New in PN: Roberts knives democracy again "So states have to wait for Trump to wreck the constitutional order, 10 weeks before midterms, before they can challenge Trump wrecking the constitutional order, 10 weeks before midterms. But it’s also such an emergency the Court had to step in. Got it."

Yeah, but they (DNC and the Dem campaign committees) are also influential in spending. Spending (and a brand of consulting/ thinking about politics) has clearly influenced thinking in Dem leaders. This is a generational thing, idk about this chair's performance in light of that.. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Worth saying, tho

Abolish the filibuster. Expand the court. ... have the house and senate enforce the 14th amendment section 3 like they have sworn to do (and which says nothing about a supermajority being required).

They exist to grift. This passage from The Power Broker has been in my mind ever since this reflecting pool algae bloom began.
The end of page 332 into page 333 of the Power Broker, by Robert Caro. Chapter title: New York City Before Robert Moses.

"Bryant Park, six priceless acres of green amid the concrete masses of
midtown, had been allowed to become a haven for drunks and idlers. In 1932, the city obligingly trucked away two of the park's principal ornaments, eight-foot-high statues of Washington Irving and James Marion Sims, founder of the first women's hospital in New York, and allowed a "George Washington Bi-Centennial Celebration Commission" (debonair Grover Whalen, one of Walker's police commissioners, was chairman) to erect a flimsy reproduction of Federal Hall, the building in which Washington was inaugurated, in the park and then fence it off and place turnstiles at its corners so that the public would be forced to pay admission to see the hall. When the public declined in great numbers to do so, the commission went out of existence without funds to demolish its creation. After picking up the demolition tab, the city discovered that it had managed to lose the Irving and Sims statues. Possibly because the omission of five tons of granite and metal would not be easily concealed in a reconstructed park, Bryant Park was not reconstructed- and in January 1934 it was a weed-filled vacant lot."

There is a footnote to this paragraph, describing the financial and public details of this disaster, and how "[the Bi-Centennial Commission] went out of existence, leaving $76,254 in largely unexplained 'expenses,' and Sears, Roebuck holding the bag for its contribution. The 'Hall stood, crumbling around the edges, in the huge vacant lot that Bryant Park had become until the city, embarrassed by the screams of rage from the Park Association, tore down the structure at its own-or rather at its taxpayers'-expense.
The Bi-Centennial Celebration did.. provide Whalen with valuable experience in running a public exposition. He put it to use in running the 1939 New York World's Fair-which lost $200 m"

So they get probably a 1% response rate; ask respondents to self-select whether they are *POTENTIAL* Democratic voters; and add to that voters who say they are actually Democratic voters. What is the benefit of reporting these two groups as one, other than having more samples??

elon musk spends two-thirds of his time spreading racist pseudoscience and hating trans people and here is Ezra Klein in 2026 saying Musk is relentlessly focused on the only things that matter to him: EVs and going to Mars. I'm sorry but the guy's just very very dim
What I find laudable in Elon Musk, amid the many things I find not laudable in him, is the relentlessness with which he tries to achieve his goals. That guy believes in getting us to Mars and creating an electric vehicle transition and all the rest of it, and nothing else matters to him. He tries to create organizations that run through walls, and he actually does make tremendous things happen in the world.
