From Michael Pollan’s A World Appears about “‘top leaders at the major AI labs.’” #AI
From Michael Pollan’s A World Appears
I spoke to one Al critic who gave me what was easily the most chilling statement I have come
across concerning the impulse to escape our biology. The statement was made in an email he received from a colleague who had interviewed some of the "top leaders at the major AI labs."
Antihumanism doesn't begin to describe it: "In the end a lot of the tech people I'm talking to,
when I really grill them, retreat into 1) determinism, 2) the inevitable replacement of biological life with digital life, and 3) that being a good thing. At its core, it's an emotional desire to speak to the most intelligent entity they've ever met. And they have some ego/religious intuition that they'll somehow be part of it. It's thrilling to start an exciting fire and they feel like they will die
either way, so they want to light it and see what happens."

Is Google obeying in advance?
Critics and reports suggest that Google has adjusted several corporate and product policies in anticipation of political shifts under the second Trump administration, leading many to accuse the company of "obeying in advance".

The concept of "obeying in advance"—a term famously popularized by historian Timothy Snyder—involves voluntarily altering behavior or making concessions before an authoritarian or hostile power explicitly demands them.

From the start of the marriage, their terrible
sex life, wrote Hurt, had sent Trump running
back to Roy Cohn, who was forced to write a
new prenup to placate the sexually unsatisfied
Ivana. Hurt's book paints a disturbing picture
of Trump's conception of love and consensual
sexual relations.
The worst revelation of Hurt's book is one that
was made in Ivana's 1990 divorce deposition
and reemerged during the 2016 campaign: :
Ivana had said at the time of her divorce that

pulled out hair from her own scalp, bellowed,

That a significant number of today's high-
profile journalists did know the Trump family.
personally is cause for concern. We now live in
a world where products of nepotism inundate
industries like journalism, a field often
reporting on other products of nepotism in
business and politics. These powerful sectors
of society have been overtaken by connections
rather than merit, and dynasties rather than
unbiased workforces. These conditions do not
guarantee that coverage must be terrible.
While wealth does not indicate merit, it also
does not inherently destroy it. Any person can
choose to do a good job and tell the truth.
But the domination of nepotistic elites in
national media over the past two decades has
warped public perception of what “ordinary
people” thought of Trump, and of what
information about his corruption is thought fit
to print. The transformation of the media into
an industry for elites who may not recognize
white-collar corruption as abnormal — or who
may be reluctant to upset their family or social
circles by revealing a crime - is described in
depth over the next few chapters.

People ask if I feel vindicated. It's an evil
question. I wanted justice, not approval. No
one needed to vindicate me. I knew I was
right: I wanted the world to make me wrong.
Facts are facts, and cowards are cowards, and
belated recognition of obvious crimes does not
negate the harm done to victims.
What the truth can do is shine a light to a
better future. But officials behave as if the
future is foreclosed. They rush toward evil in
every form: genocide, eugenics, the
replacement of humanity with artificial
intelligence. They are part and parcel with the
predators they were supposed to expose and
condemn and prosecute.
They always were.

This is a distressing story about Trump's attempts to impede
Thomas Massie's efforts to release the Epstein files:
As the House moved toward a vote on releasing the Epstein files
last summer and fall, the White House and top Trump allies
launched an effort to forestall it that lawmakers told me was
unprecedented in its intensity and scope.
Massie called it a “360-pressure campaign,” one felt not just by
him and his staff but anyone associated with him. One tactic he
had not experienced before: Some of his key staff members were
suddenly offered more prestigious jobs in the Trump
administration or more lucrative had not experienced before: Some of his key staff members were
suddenly offered more prestigious jobs in the Trump
administration or more lucrative jobs in the private sector-the
idea being that if Massie no longer had a full staff, he couldn't
pursue ambitious legislation.
Massie recalled asking an employee who, a few weeks before the
vote, had received an employment offer that would double his
salary: "Did it ever occur to you that they might be offering you
this job to basically make me less effective?" He said the young
man sheepishly replied: "That's what my mom said." He turned
down the offer and finished writing the bill.

But the surprise of the moment has been the extraordinary solidarity that
ordinary Americans have shown with immigrants and against Trump-
Miller-Vance's parade of ethnonationalist horrors. Miller is using state-
sponsored violence and terror to try to break up that alliance. A big
reason Trumpworld is unapologetic about Good-Vance responded by
exaggerating the immunity of ICE officers, and Miller kept describing
protesters as insurrectionists, meaning it's open season on them—is to
warn Americans showing solidarity with immigrants that they do so at
their personal peril.
The fascists around Trump want us to think Trump will circumvent the
courts. They want to create the impression that he's fully capable of
presiding over a military dictatorship. They think that will cow
Americans and institutions into compliance. But if recent events tell us
one thing, it's this: That absolutely, emphatically is not going to happen.

What's really at stake here runs deeper still. After the killing of Renee
Good, administration officials conspicuously did not reassure the public
that institutional steps are being taken to avoid future horrors. They
didn't promise an impartial examination to build confidence by involving
stakeholders on all sides. Instead, they offered an account that anyone
could see with their own eyes was nonsense. As writer Radley Balko
notes:
The lies this administration is telling about Ms. Good aren't
those you deploy as part of a cover-up. They're those you use
when you want to show you can get away with anything.
I'd take that further. Miller, JD Vance, and the other ethnonationalists
around Trump operate from a worldview dictating that modern levels of
immigration profoundly threaten national social cohesion. They think
this view is widely shared by a "silent majority.”

Hundreds of immigrant mothers and children
detained at a South Texas facility on Saturday
protested the killing of a 37-year-old man in
Minneapolis, chanting "Let me out" and
"Libertad," or "Liberty," according to an
immigration lawyer who witnessed the
demonstration.
Eric Lee, the lawyer, said he had been waiting for
his client in the visitation area of the family
detention center in Dilley, Tex., when detention
officials abruptly asked him to leave. Once
outside, he peered through a chain-link fence and
saw hundreds of women and children walking out
of the facility and chanting in protest.
Lee said his client later told him on the phone that
he and other detainees were outraged over the
latest killing in Minneapolis and the detention of
Liam Conejo Ramos, the 5-year-old boy from
Ecuador detained with his father in Minneap
and sent to Texas.

Ken White, another former federal prosecutor who is now a defense lawyer
in Los Angeles, said he did not think the image would affect the case.
"It's very sleazy, and a good example of the juvenile and petulant ethos of
the sort of people who work for the Trump administration,” he said. “Though
contemptible it falls very far short of the sort of misconduct that federal
courts require to find 'outrageous government misconduct' that might
trigger a remedy like dismissal. It's also significantly short of the kind of
evidence that could support a motion to dismiss for vindictive prosecution."
Still, he added, there may be other reasons for posting the picture.
"The reason this prosecution is so appealing to the administration is that the
parishioners were white and the defendants are Black,” he said. "The
opportunity to degrade a Black woman thrills the kind of people who work in
the Trump administration and appeals to the kind of people who support the
Trump
ministration"

EVERYDAY BUDDHISM
Mushrooms
When I was growing up, I remember having to sit at the
dinner table until all the food on my plate was gone.
Because I was a picky eater, this was a difficult task, and
when mushrooms were on the table, I knew I'd be sitting
there for a very long time. I thought to myself at those
times, "I hate mushrooms." I didn't like the flavor, texture,
color, or anything else about them. But as I got older, I
developed a taste for mushrooms. Now they're one of
my favorite things to eat. I now recognize that it was
never "I" who loved or hated mushrooms; it was my taste
buds and my nose conspiring to give me the experience
that "I" hated mushrooms. The average person has about
10,000 taste buds, and they're continually being replaced
by new ones. As we get older, things begin to taste
different to us. Because of the impermanent, constantly
changing nature of the body, I don't even know what
foods I will or won't enjoy in the next 5, 10, or 20 years.
Being aware of this allows me to try foods that I previ-
ously thought "I" disliked.
Next time you eat a meal, whether it's one of your
favorite foods or something you think you hate, remind
yourself that it's not "you" who likes or dislikes certain
things. It's your sense organs, along with mental forma-
tions and everything else happening in your mind, that
leave you with that perception. And perceptions, like a
taste for mushrooms, can change.

No, the Nazi leaders were not spectacular types, not per-

ply had three quite unremarkable characteristics in common
and the opportunity to seize power. These three character-
sistics were: overweening ambition, low ethical standards, a
strongly developed nationalism which justified anything done
in the name of Germandom.
Let us look about us. Have we no ultranationalists among
us who would approve any policy, however evil, so long as
it could be said to be of advantage to America? Have we
no men
men so ruthlessly eager to achieve power that they

So much for the leaders of a potential American Nazism.

I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we're at it,
Highly "Inaccurate," Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES,
which cost Ten Times more than accurate and sophisticated Watermark Paper, which is
faster, and leaves NO DOUBT, at the end of the evening, as to who WON, and who LOST,
the Election. We are now the only Country in the World that uses Mail-In Voting. All
others gave it up because of the MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD ENCOUNTERED. WE WILL
BEGIN THIS EFFORT, WHICH WILL BE STRONGLY OPPOSED BY THE DEMOCRATS
BECAUSE THEY CHEAT AT LEVELS NEVER SEEN BEFORE, by signing an EXECUTIVE
ORDER to help bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections. Remember, the States
are merely an "agent" for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes.
They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the
United States, tells them, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY, to do. With their
HORRIBLE Radical Left policies, like Open Borders, Men Playing in Women's Sports,
Transgender and "WOKE" for everyone, and so much more, Democrats are virtually
Unelectable without using this completely disproven Mail-In SCAM. ELECTIONS CAN
NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING, and everybody, IN PARTICULAR
THE DEMOCRATS, KNOWS THIS. I, AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, WILL FIGHT LIKE
HELL TO BRING HONESTY AND INTEGRITY BACK TO OUR ELECTIONS. THE MAIL-IN
BALLOT HOAX, USING VOTING MACHINES THAT ARE A COMPLETE AND TOTAL
DISASTER, MUST END, NOW!!! REMEMBER, WITHOUT FAIR AND HONEST ELECTIONS,
AND STRONG AND POWERFUL BORDERS, YOU DON'T HAVE EVEN A SEMBLANCE OF A
COUNTRY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!!! DONALD J. TRUMP,

several girls at any one time. She confided in me about her casual "friendship" with Donald. Mr
Trump definitely seemed to have a thing for her and she told me how he kept going on about how
he liked her "pert nipples".
Donald Trump liked flicking and sucking her nipples until they were raw. One evening when we
were showering together she showed me her nipples. They looked incredibly painful as they were
red and swollen and I remember wincing when I looked at them. I also know she had sexual
relations with Trump at Jeffery's NY mansion on regular occasions as I once met Jen for coffee,
just before she was going to meet Trump and Epstein together at his mansion.
I will shortly start forwarding you, all the emails which I have managed to save. They include the
following:
I moved from Edinburgh to
New York in September 2006, where shortly after I was introduced to Jeffery Epstein by Natalie.
. A couple months later, after he constantly stalked me around
Edinburgh, I moved to New York to get as far away from him as possible and to start a new life.
I will send you that photo, amongst others as soon as I am able to fly back to the UK next week as I
definitely, 100% have it all in my little storage box. I also have other photo's of the Epstein girls and
I, whilst on the Island including a couple of pictures of me with Sergey Brin and his then finance
Anne Wojcicki. I met the pair when they visited the Island for the day as Sergey wanted try out his
new kite surfing equipment as he had only just started kite surfing and was very eager to try out his
new equipment with us girls.
