Genius plan tho. Generate too much code, then I gotta pay it to read its own code so that it can do the same job with less code.

If someone figures out how to make an AI that writes a lot less code, they'll make tens of dollars a month from me.

the nice thing about bluetooth speakers is that they inexplicably die at inconvenient times so it's always good to have a few backups.

The "Dead Industry" theory is resonating with me and if often feels like I have a different job than I did last year. @strange.website offers a beautiful lament for the jobs we had and lays down some kindling for how we might warm ourselves in the meanwhile.

We went through that experience with my daughter at our local renfaire a couple years ago. We were fiscally responsible and did not impulse purchase. But we absolutely did buy one! 😆 Our bird doesn't have cute armor and make noises... please don't let her know that's an option 😅

Gonna be real… I don’t know if there’s a world where I’m able or willing to accept a 600+ file PR... I don’t think it’s a bad idea, it’s just an unrealistic ask for me to even consider something this large.

Mostly agent ports of the textmate grammars, there’s some oniguruma stuff I don’t think we’ll want to support.

I bought and framed some prints from @falseknees.bsky.social for my office and they look amazing!

We don’t auto-infer the language, that would be pretty expensive to do client-side (slow to scan every language grammar and kilobyte-wise). But theoretically you could maybe build a scoring algo of some kind from the grammar files

Woaaah this is cool! 😮 Feels like magic to inspect a fully-highlighted code snippet and the markup looks like this:

A random chunk of styled HTML with a nested chunk of CSS within a <style> tag

Screenshot of the "Elements" pane of the devtools showing the markup for that code snippet. It's a <code> element with plaintext inside, no nested <span> tags for each symbol.

Have an ACCESSIBILITY.md file in your GitHub repo? It now shows up on the project root! Don't have one? Why not take some time today to create one. #a11y ericwbailey.website/published/gi...

We'll quickly regret defunding and losing those who read the specs, learn, explore, measure, weigh, and share their hard-won experience. When the answer to every question is "I asked Claude and clicked approve" we yield actual answers to probabilities and will always be left asking, "Are you sure?"

Due to SEO abuse of the title attribute some screen readers ignore it or can be configured to ignore it. So it’s a bit of an unreliable utility. But that could change if it’s actually useful?
