Valve really should release a Steam Deck mini. After spending so much time with my Retroid Pocket 5 I've realised that a device around the size of a Switch Lite is basically what I want, if not just slightly bigger. I'm pretty much sold on Android gaming handhelds now. They're much cheaper.

I'm still a bit weary of signing into a third-party app with my Steam credentials personally but I've been using Winlator for so long now that I'm happy with the level of control I have over the various settings to get games running. Compatibility still isn't at the x86 level, but it's still great.

People have got SteamOS running on android now. Literally just an android app you install and run and there it is, Steam. It still has to run through a compatibility layer, but it's astounding how well PC gaming has progressed on Android gaming handhelds. Basically just mini Steam Decks now.

xAI, OpenAI and Anthropic (three for-profit companies) didn't all just come to the conclusion simultaneously that they need to slow down AI development because of AI safety. None of these companies have ever acted like safety is their foremost concern. They've hit a wall.

Saw a review of that new Wolverine game and man AAA gaming is becoming bleak. Out of control budgets for on-rails games that can't even trust the player to follow a linear path without making you follow a glowing trail and quick time events that just resolve themselves if you don't press a button.

I think I had a really old LG mobile once but it was a pretty long time ago but that's really it if that qualifies as a smart device. I think I've had the occasional LG kitchen appliance over the years but none of those were "smart".

Yeah I think that's the issue really. It's just not fundamentally capable of that kind of "thinking". Perhaps it's a stepping stone to whatever AGI will be but I don't think LLMs will be it.

I'm of the mindset that there's nothing particularly special about the human brain that can't one day be simulated, or something nearing its level of sophistication, but I don't think LLMs are sophisticated enough. They're basically just incredibly advanced auto-complete.

Managed to get Morrowind set up on my android handheld using OpenMW and a vanilla modpack that adds a bunch of QOL stuff (modpack process was kind of tedious but at least it was mostly automated). I went with "I Heart Vanilla" since it mostly deals with bugs, QOL and adds a texture pack.
